IPhone 1.1.1

Hi all,

Just got back from Florida where the very unhelpful staff in the Apple store in Florida Mall wouldnt tell me which firmware the iphones had so I came back empty handed....

Have just seen the thread that the 1.1.1 firmware has been hacked (surprisingly after deciding not to take the chance) so now im scouring ebay for a purchase.

Ive found a US seller who is offering 1.1.1 phones unlocked at a decent price but I just want to check that the unlock is confirmed, I have been off the net for 2 weeks now and are finding quite a lot of conflicting information on what is actually achievable on the new firmware.

Im on O2 so hoping that all features will work nicely.

Thanks

Re: IPhone 1.1.1

IPSF do a paid for sim unlock for 1.1.1, but what most if you follow
modmyiphone you can downgrade the firmware to 1.0.2 and the baseband to allow an unlock on 1.0.2 firmware.

Re: IPhone 1.1.1

I have o2 unlocked iphone. Just moved from Orange for the better £7.50 data bolt on.

Do not think visual voicemail will work unless you can get the settings and O2 have it enabled.

Though it may be enabled already. Otherwise everything else works great.

Visual voicemail will only worked with AT+T, as it is carrier-specific. I doubt 02 will enable it for unlocked phones when the iphone comes out officially

Re: IPhone 1.1.1

What price are people buying these for on ebay? I'm trying to work out the best way to get myself one of these, either officially next month or take the unlocking route.

I take it you mean 1.0.2 upgrading to 1.1.1

I would advise to hold on for a few days. Dev team have said they will have an easy to use "one click" unlock for 1.1.1 phones between the 20th and 30th of October.

Yep. 1.1.1 has been unlocked, jailbroken etc. It's just a messy process at the moment.

You can put the same 3rd party apps on with no problems. In fact there are a few 1.1.1 specific 3rd party apps now too!

The one click GUI version will be much easier!

Quick question, when I first plug it into my mac is it going to prompt me to update the software or do I have to turn a setting off to make sure it doesnt just do it automatically?

You can turn off 'check for updates automatically' in iTunes - Edit -> Preferences

On a working phone - Settings - General - About

On an unactivated phone from the emergancy calls screen key in *3001#12345#* 'Call' on keypad - this enters the field test menu where you can select versions e.g. 03.14.08_G is 1.0.2 or below. Firmware starting 04.** etc. is a 1.1.1 phone.

Re: IPhone 1.1.1

Hey Kieron,

All I can think, for us that have already sim-unlocked a 1.0.2, it's still gonna be a tortuous(?) affair,re-locking, bricking, unbricking and unlocking again to fix the baseband, up to 1.1.1, app unlock and then sim-unlock.
If they get that in a 1-click fix I would donate again!!
Who's gonna be first to try

Hmm, by all accounts it's going to be a little bit simpler once the 1 click fix comes out.

From reading the various forums (for hours on end) it may be as simple as resetting the modem firmware, upgrading to 1.1.1 and then running the jailbreak, installer then the 1 click app.

Fingers crossed.

Re: IPhone 1.1.1

I think its the repairing/resetting the modem firmware thats big step. As far as i could tell (from reading forums also) is that this is the way IPSF managed to get a working unlock out quicker, because, their original unlock app didn't modify the baseband firmware, which is where the dev team seem to have been having the most problems, but we will know soon enough eh!

I hope so. Mine was unlocked when I got it and I would like to upgrade to 1.1.1 but i'm scared of bricking it.
