As soon as the dev-team (the guys who managed to jailbreak the phone) get a copy of the above software it'll be re-engineered and all over the internet for free.

Sit tight for a few hours anybody who is considering paying $60 for this unlock - it'll be free soon.

Hey Kieron (AKA iphone guru )

Got my iphone running lovely over the past 2 or 3 weeks. Question is, do you reckon it's worth updating to 1.1.1 then doing the crack over again??

John

I'm probably gonna do that in a few days, when everything is a bit clearer. Theres a 75 step process to jailbreak 1.1.1

Stil tempted to stay at 1.0.2. Nothing really in the 1.1.1 update apart from the double tap thing.

I'm not bothering to be honest. Unless they come out with a very simple GUI unlock.

Only thing I am interested in was the extra iPod control, but a remote will sort that out in time.

Couldn't care less about the iTunes store, and I've already upped my volume (which was the other thing the firmware sorted) with a hack.

So no, I don't think it's worth the hassle at the moment. Interesting to sit back and watch though.

The rumour is, is that IPSF have managed to get a code generator to unlock the iPhones permanately - be interesting to see what happens when Apple go to 1.1.2 firmware......

Still love my iPhone though!

Lets hope they make less of a mess up this time. I will wait as still no promise of a repaired baseband at the moment.
Will also wait for a GUI activation, done a lot of Unix in the past but the current route appears to be a minefield at the moment.

Sorry to be dense, but does this mean that I can walk into an O2 shop on Nov 9th, pay my 269 quid, go home, get the 1.1.1 f/w cracked and then use any SIM in it to make and receive calls. And use it with itunes as an ipod.

There is no way of unlocking via Anysim unlocking (free version) currently although it said to be close to release, IPSF is an option but, and it is a big but we are still not sure if Apple/O2 are going to be using the same 1.1.1 firmware (1.1.2 is already a rumour and apparently no international keyboards in current 1.1.1) also currently we don't know how for definite how they are going to be sold in the UK. They may have learnt from the US model and changed accordingly. There is also no point and click method of activating at the moment, this may only be afew days away (hopefull) but until the first phones go on sale in the UK then nobody is going to know for sure.

What hack did you use to up the volume? The only one i've seen online only seems to up the keypad volume.
