Hi,

I have a brother living in the US & was wondering whether to ask him to get me one & send it over, (is this the cheapest way ?) does anyone know what firmware would be on the iphones at the moment if he bought one from an apple store ?

No idea what version is shipping at the moment, though the latest version being installed by iTunes is 1.1.1.

I'd hold off getting one imported yet until some reports come in of people using standard phones on O2 without resorting to third party hacks (which apple has royally screwed).

The only way an imported iphone will work on o2 is with a 3rd party hack.

It's 1.1.1

Dev-team are literally hours away from a crack.

They can jailbreak and activate the phones right now. They are working on the modem firmware at this time.

It's literally hours now before a crack comes out. Probably days for a GUI version that everyone can use relatively easily.

I imagine that apple are days away from releasing 1.1.2 though!

But if I could find a 1.0.2 version to import this would be fine to unlock wouldn't it ?
