In short - completely the wrong answer.

Apple cannot block your phone at all. If you are running firmware revision 1.0.2 you can happily use your phone, iPod, all the features etc. You can sync it with your home pc or mac using iTunes, you can happily use it forever in it's current state.

However, if you update the firmware to 1.1.1 (via iTunes) then your unlock will cease to exist. At the moment the dev team can roll back the firmware to 1.0.2 but the phone part will still be locked to AT&T.

The crack is days away now though. Last night the dev team managed to jailbreak the new firmware and install 3rd party apps onto the supposedly secure firmware. It's a matter of time before you can unlock 1.1.1

Best thing to do is turn off auto-update for new software in iTunes and NEVER click the restore button.

If you download the 1.0.2 firmware to your computer and store it somewhere should you ever need to restore your phone you hold shift whilst clicking restore on a windows machine or alt whilst clicking restore on a mac. Then you can choose which firmware to install.

You'd still then need to unlock 1.0.2 but that's simple.

In short, don't worry. Enjoy your iPhone. Enjoy all the features plus many more 3rd pary apps on the unlocked version. Just don't click that restore button in iTunes unless you follow the above.

Re: iPhone Unlocking

is this not the unlocking thread?
I'm using a pc, getting very frustrated now.
I had everything working fine on 1.0.2 using a stealthsim v3 but then stupidly decided to upgrade to 1.1.3.
If my iphone is running 1.0.2 and I am on the activation screen, shouldn't the steathsim make everything work unless the stealthsim is faulty?
