Lost phone, now have replacement what should i do with other one.

Hi can anyone help, lost my mobile so rang orange they sent me out a replacement for £70, now my other phone has turned up, its showing inactive sim tried another sim card but it won't work, what should i do with it. will orange let me keep it as i have payed the money for new one, or will they ask for it back. Or can i get it unblocked at a shop as i have proof that its mine. Many Thanks...

I am assuming the £70 was for an insurance replacement on your lost phone, technically the phone is now Orange/insurance companies property. The phone is showning inactive SIM as Orange have blocked the IMEI to the network/s. Ring Orange ask them what they want you to do with it.

Cheers, didn't have insurance with orange had to pay a one off fee of £70 for a identical replacement with them. Which phone would i have to send back, also would i get my money back. Or can i not tell them, and take phone to a high street shop and ask them to unblock it as i have proof that its mine.

If the the £70 payment is the true price of the phone on Orange then you still own both so you don't need to send or notify them of either, Orange do a one off payment system (like insurance) which is what I thought you had paid for. If you own both phones then Orange may be persuaded with some proof etc. to lift the barring so you could sell one and recoup some of your costs. Contact Orange and explain the situation. High street shops won't be able to lift the block as it sounds as though Orange have added the IMEI number to a register to ban it from being used.

The handset is barred from the network that is why the SIM is showing inactive, the network is the only way to lift this ban as changing the IMEI is llegal and may involve some jail time.

Just found letter that come with new phone. Orange are saying if you find the lost handset they will collect it as its still there property. So do i get my £70 back from them. Does say the phone is barred from any network and blacklisted.
