N80 Sim card registration failed?

I just got a Nokia N80 off ebay and I put a brand new sim card from orange in and it says ' Sim card registration failed ' I tried to register it and it says no network coverage. Everything else works fine on the phone. Also i knew someone who bought a refurbed 6280 from Orange Shop and it came up with that message.

Please Help

Hi

It either means that the handset is locked to another network or the IMEI has been blacklisted (stolen phone).

its worth making sure you've got the SIM card in correctly (as in precisely) I know with my old N80 i kept getting that error when it was slightly out of place due to the hinge on my SIM 'door' being broken

you can also make sure you're trying to connect to the Orange network and not another one by finding the Network option and setting it to Manual

Hi,

I get this on on my N80 every now and then. I just remove and replace the sim card and its okay again.

If any of your friends are on a different network to you, you could try their sim in your phone to see if it works. At least you would have eliminated one of the possible problems.

Hopefully its not a stolen one.

I've tried a vodafone simcard but it does'nt accept it and I tried another orange sim card which works on a 6280 but on the N80 it still says ' Sim card registration failed' with no signal.

The handsets blacklisted mate, its not gonna work. Was probably part of an insurance claim or reported stolen.

the ebayer who sold it to me said it was working before but he said he we accept a return and refund.

Is it more secure he or she refunds me first via paypal then send the phone back?

Went to see the N80 in the unlocking shop. Its in bad condition on three mobile and they cant unlock it.

No matter I just won a refurbished N80 off the orange shop on ebay for £74 inc delivery.
