DECT Phone Help

Apologies, I know this isn't strictly speaking about mobile phones, but I'm at the end of my tether...

I'm looking to get a set of 3 cordless DECT home phones, and I've seen so many contradictory reviews on Amazon, some saying the phone is fantastic, others saying rubbish etc.

I'll probably be buying on eBay, but can any of you recommend a decent set?

The only features I'm looking for are:

1. Good sound clarity
2. Good sound volume
3. More than 30 name and numbers (50 probably ideal)
4. Answering machine

I briefly had a set of faulty BT Synergy 4500 handsets, which interfered with my wireless broadband, and didn't work very well, so they're no good.

The popular models on eBay at the moment seem to be:

Binatone Fusion 2210
iDECT X1i
BT Mango
Onetel OT350
Philips SE 435

my ideal set would be the Panasonic KXTG7123, which costs more than I really have (looking to spend around £50)

does anyone know if any of the above DECT phones are any good, or if they could recommend one based on what I'm looking for above?

Thanks very much for your help

Re: DECT Phone Help

Can't help with the phones you have listed, but after a lot of research I went for Panasonic, these probably are the best in terms of build and sound quality.

Have a look at Comets web site they have a lot of discount deals at the moment......

Re: DECT Phone Help

Just saw this post about DECT cordless phones, and have to say I feel similarly confused. I bought a Philips two-handset/answerphone set quite recently for about £40 from TribalUK (model CD5352), but was not at all happy with it so I sent it back to them and got my money back. My biggest complaint was the poor sound quality. I still really want to get a cordless phone, but don't know which way to turn.

I'd be really interested to hear which one FatBoys decided to go for and why, or in fact any opinions on recent DECT phone purchases.

It's interesting that the first reply here suggests Panasonic, since a guy I spoke to in Currys also said they were the best for sound quality. Can anyone back this up, and/or name the best model to go for?

Cheers, Paul

Re: DECT Phone Help

I've had BT and Panasonic. My mother has a Phillips and the Panasonic is by far the best of the three.

Re: DECT Phone Help

OK, so it looks like I should go for a Panasonic. Looking at their range, it seems that the KX-TG8122E is the most popular set and the one to go for - I have found loads of positive reviews on this one.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-KX...=3TGSU2L4DAZ9A

However, this model has been around for a while (hence the large number of reviews), and in fact it seems that it has been discontinued by Panasonic, since it is no longer on their website.

Instead, the Panasonic website shows a new model called KX-TG8222E. I can find no reviews or opinions on this, but from the model number I suspect it may be a new, improved version of the old KX-TG8122E.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TG...=3TGSU2L4DAZ9A

Has anyone got a KX-TG8222E, or can anyone give an opinion on whether this is likely to be as good as the old model?

Thanks, Paul

Crikey, you managed to get in touch with them? I have been spending hours every day for the past fortnight and have sent countless emails regarding a no-show on an order and they won't respond or answer the damned phone. I would steer well clear of these cowboys.

Re: DECT Phone Help

Had Philips for a long time but now have Panasonic, the sound & build quality is much better.

Have a look at this deal from comets, use the 10% code 10DECT as listed on the page and you have a bargain.....
