Re: unlocking a k800i?

Hi. It depends on what system the Shop is using to unlock your phone. I know that compared to older phones such as the w810i etc. the k800i uses a more difficult unlock system (DB2020). But whatever about the shop, You can 100% unlock the phone yourself using www.davinciteam.com .Not cheap but works.

Re: unlocking a k800i?

Not sure why it would be 50/50. It does seem to depend on the network it was linked to. I had a K800i unlocked in Oxford Street in London. It was locked to the 'THREE' network, which seems to be the most difficult to unlock. It took about 10 minutes and cost me £35 this February. They were absolutely 100% convinced it would not be an issue. I use it occasionally as a second phone to insert local SIM cards when I am travelling and it has worked perfectly in teh USA, Ukraine, Belarus, Netherlands and Cyprus.

all they will do is get the code from vodacode database (if its on) it wont delete anything and is the safest way to unlock it.
£20 is a bit much though as i usually sell for £10 on other forums

Re: unlocking a k800i?

It's all to do with the firmware of the phone. The latest (CID 52) is a lot more difficult and costly to unlock, earlier versions, fairly simple if you are in the trade.

Couple of other point here to help avoid confusion. Phones on 3 are no trickier to unlock than any other. It's the phone that is the issue, if there is a solution available, it does not make the slightest difference, what network the phone is on.

Most shops do not buy codes from networks when solutions are available, it's cheaper, therefore more profitable. Codes are only bought when there is absolutely no other / cheaper way to do it.

Hi,

I work for Vodafone so I'm sure why it would be 50/50. If all else fails you could always contact Vodafone directly. As long as you've got a registered Pay as you talk SIM or pay monthly contract then Vodafone can contact the manufacturer directly for an unlocking code. If you've been under contract for over 12 months the unlocking code is free of charge, otherwise it's £19.99 (likewise with how long your SIM has been active if you're on pay as you talk). If you want to get a code officially through Vodafone you can go to the following link, providing the required information plus the make and model of handset and IMEI number (found either on the back of the battery panel, or by entering * # 0 6 # and pressing send). If you leave the short code FIT135 in the body of your email then this will route you through to somebody who'll be able to help.

Re: unlocking a k800i?

I unlocked mine for £15 at the markets. The phone was on 3 and for the price, they even debranded (removed the 3 crap from it). The davinci team solution works but don't bother paying for unlocking.

Debranding you can do for free using the XS++ software, changing your CDA to Worldwide 1 and download the latest firmware through SE software update. Then you are set . I did this with my P1i and it worked a treat.

Re: unlocking a k800i?

i think sim free mobile buying is the one of the best i-dea. well it is available in the original quality in a reasonable rate. though it's a sim free mobile so you can use any sim-cards & takes in anywhere at wherever you wants to take. it's an already unlocked mobile so the preoblem of unlocking is already solved.
