Delay upgrade

Hi guys, my contract is up at the end of the month and I'm not overly impressed by the range of phones available at the moment. My K800i is still running like clockwork so I wouldn't mind waiting a few months for either the W960i or the K850i.

My question is whether anyone has any experience of O2 allowing you to delay your phone upgrade a few months. I will probably call retentions as I want some more web data as well.

IIRC, last year they weren't too keen on me holding out for the K800 and that was only a few weeks.

Opinions appreciated!

Re: Delay upgrade

Your current contract will just continue as it is until you ask for a phone upgrade.
When you sign up for 12 or 18 months, that is the 'Minimum' contract length.

Once your contract is up, you can just keep quiet, and carry on like normal. Then once there is a phone that you do want, you ring the upgrade number, get your new phone, and then start a new 12 or 18 month contract from that day instead.

I was in the same boat as you last year. My contract finished in the April, but I waited until July before callying them, and getting my upgrade. That 12 month contract is due to finish in July this year !

The other option you have got, is that if you think your current phone will last another 12 months and you are happy with it - call the customer services number, and get a price for a new 12 month contract without a phone. When I did this for my Wife, I was offered £100 cashback, instead of a phone upgrade
-This option does mean that you are tied in for another 12 months before you can get another phone, so be sure that you are happy that your current one will last OK !

Hope that helps !

Cheers

Gary

Re: Delay upgrade

Cheers Gary, hadn't thought of that! Think I'll hold out for a few months then.
