Number Porting - Contract to PAYG ?

I'm currently with Orange on an expired contract and am considering switching to PAYG (still with Orange) but would like to keep my current number. Can I do port this to PAYG?

If I decide to take another contract later or move to another PAYG operator can I still port my number ?

Thanks

From memory I think Orange let you transfer from contract to PAYG with the same number...I'm sure my wife did that to pick up any messages to her old number when she took up a new contract with them...

Thanks for that I had a feeling that may be the case.

Any idea abut going the other way around ? I just want to make sure that I can keep this number no matter which network or tariff I move to
