SmartPhone Questions

Hello Peeps

I have a Vario 2 at the moment on t mobile. I have a good 12 months on the contacto and i find myself board with the phone. Really just the laggy interface so anyway i want to get a new one.

My first question can i simply put my sim into another unlocked phone and continue on my current contract but on a new phone? Would i need to do anything with the new phone being a smartphone. I also pay for the internet separate, the web and walk thing bob.

My second question is which should i go for.

Iphone
Ameo
Or something else. Suggestions.

The 2 i have suggested have there good points, example the iphone has the multi input technology and other cool new things for a smartphone. Whilst the Ameo has a big screen and has 3g.

My main use of my Smartphone is the internet but i want to be able to call people easy as well. I find inputing number on my vario on challange whilst on friends prade smartphone its a breeze.

Suggestions on any others please.

Thanks

Re: SmartPhone Questions

Hi Someguy,

First off, if you're going to be selling your Vario II give me a shout, I might be interested in buying it off you. I'm waiting for the Kaiser to come out but would like a new toy to play with whilst I'm waiting.

You should be able to pop your existing sim card into a new phone providing the new phone isn't locked to a network. Regarding your new phone you've got a few options.

HTC have just released a phone with similar specs to the iPhone (i.e. touch screen, but no 3G) called the TOUCH. It is a windows media device but with a more user friendly front end for the phone stuff. Has had mixed reviews so I'd definitely see if you can get your hands on one in a shop first. It's available now, whereas the iPhone isn't

It doesn't really sound like the Ameo is for you as it's more like a PDA than a phone to me. Looks pretty clever but I've heard a lot of people say you need a bluetooth headset with you as you don't really want to be using it as a phone (due to it's size).

I believe Sony are meant to be releasing some new phones this week, so it might be worth keeping an eye on Pocket Lint as they tend to get mobile news fairly sharpish.

Re: SmartPhone Questions

Hey
Thank you for your reply. I apprieciate it. Yeah i've been doing alot of reading regarding Ameo and i do agree that it probally would not suit me. I think im just going to buy a 3g card for my laptop and lug that around with me aswell.

I'll take a look at the touch and the others you recommended. I'll also let you know about the vario 2, i probally won't be getting for about a month though.

Cheers.

Re: SmartPhone Questions

No problem

Yep, gimme a shout about the Vario II, I'm really looking for something to tide me over until the Kaiser comes out, don't really want to spend too much. I probably wouldn't be able to offer enough for you to be happy (only looking to spend ~£120).

You'd probably get more for it on eBay as they seem to be going for between £130-£200 depending on extras/condition etc. Of course that means venturing in Nigerian scammer central as they seem to love trying it on with mobiles.

Anyway, hope you find a phone that suits you.
