I'm sure it should work - can't think of any reasonsn why not.

But maybe try this - http://www.google.com/mobile/mail/index.html (Java)

I'm not 100% sure about all the networks but you should be able to connect to GPRS to go on the internet or push your emails through to your handset,, the only thing I would say is be careful you don't pay through the nose to get it,
T-Mobile cap it to £1 per day ( stand corrected if it's more ) if you are not on a web n walk contract however some of the other CSP's charge you everytime you connect via GPRS,, I have my phone checking every 30mins for new mail so that would cost me an arm and a leg if I was not on Web n Walk,

Also here is the Gmail settings I used for my Nokia and should work for every phone,

Incoming email:
incoming mail serv: pop.googlemail.com
mailbox type: POP3
Security(ports): SSL/TLS
Port: 995
APOP secure login: off
Outgoing email:
Outgoing mail serv: smtp.googlemail.com
Security (ports): StartTLS
Port: 25

Hope the above helps,

Brian.

Re: Can you connect to GPRS mail on Payasyougo?

Thanks guys for your time,

I've tried the google java it connects via wi-fi no probs but again not through gprs,

I've tried loads of settings, some i can get the wap working with but not access email but most of the time it connects to gprs but then just says connecting to email for lik a minute before saying an error,

do i need to ring o2 to activate anything or do i need a rom update? (even though i dont know where to start with that!) im using 2.21.4.1 wwe at the mo

Thanks again in advance for any help

Chris

Try Virgin m8.

I have always hated anything but PAYG - but struggled to find a PAYG operator one that allowed GPRS. I actually wanted it for my TomTom to check traffic etc which imho uses GPRS connections. Anyway Vodafone and O2 did not work and then I fell onto a Virgin SIM and never looked back

thanks!

Would it work if i use the virgin sim for virgin media customers where you get 300 txts and so many free minutes a month for £10p/m? (so basically like o2 genie but you get free minutes to)

Re: Can you connect to GPRS mail on Payasyougo?

Hell - should do. I spend approx £15 a month with them across two mobiles and I've been using GPRS for about a year now on both.

I'd be interested in that phone offer as I'm a landline user of theirs. Can anyone take it up or do you have to take their TV also?

Fantastic service too.

Re: Can you connect to GPRS mail on Payasyougo?

no if you have landline phone thats fine just ask for the 2 for £20 offer, with landline and sim card.

Also you can have free digital tv with the 2 for £20 although you have to pay £25 installation.
