I get a "New Voice Message On Line 1" alert, but cannot listen to it? - N73 on Orange

Whenever I turn my phone on, I get a message saying:

"New Voice Message On Line 1"

When I click the button to listen to it, I am directed to my mailbox which says:

"You have no new messages"

I constantly have the new voicemail symbol on my phone but instead of being the normal voicemail symbol it instead has one filled in circle.

Has anyone else had this problem, how do I get listen/get rid of the voicemail as always having the symbol is really beginning to irritate me.

Thanks in advance
Martin

Re: I get a "New Voice Message On Line 1" alert, but cannot listen to it? - N73 on Or

Hi Martin

I have exactly the same problem with my N80, also on Orange.

Orange tell me its a known fault and will be fixed hopefully on a software update.

It is so aggrevating, with constant tape logo displayed and everytime I turn on the phone, 1 new message alert. To be honest, hate my N80 and cant wait to upgreade it...poxy thing!!

I have a feeling this fault is only applicable to Orange?

"New Voice Message On Line 1" - solution

I had this on my N80 and managed to fix it:

Put your SIM card in someone else's phone (you will still see the message icon), call your own number and leave a message, then listen to the message all the way through on your friend's phone and delete it. The new message icon should disappear. Now puit your SIM back in your own phone and it should be sorted.

WARNING: Doing this worked great for me, but it did mean that the phone I borrowed lost all its saved text messages, so just be aware of either backing up the phone, saving to SIM, or just being prepared to go "oops, sorry, my phone's fine now though!".

Even though it sounds pretty random I can confirm that the above solution worked for me too on my N80. Both phones were fine afterwards too, lost nothing. Don't know if this was because the other phone was also a Nokia?

Re: I get a "New Voice Message On Line 1" alert, but cannot listen to it? - N73 on Or

Is there any way to resolve this longstanding bug without having to put the SIM in another phone. I am in a bad reception area, get this problem frequently as a result and find it a major pain to have to either carry a dummy phone or keep pestering a colleague to borrow theirs (and wiping out their call log history in the process)

thanks

Craig

Hi

Do not thik it was ever cured.
You could always try de-branding your phone and load latest software.

I got so fed up with Orange, I switched to O2, where i find there packages far better.
