N95 Best Tariff?

I went to view this phone at phones 4u. Ended up (after the hard sell)walking out with N95 on 12 month contract 45 pm 600 x-net mons, 100 extra landline mins, 200 txt and was given £30 towards my final current bill.

Am already with orange so they also gave me an O2 sim to port my number to when contract ends.

I didn't mind taking the phone cos I wanted to try it out and I have 14 days to take it back.

I like the phone but now think I will use the internet. On Orange this will cost £4 for 4mb, £8 for 10mb pm.

T-mobile will do N95 free, 18 month contract, £37.50pm for £180 calls/txt (call 20p p min, txt 10p each) so 900mins or 1800 txt or a combination. The biggie tho is 1GB monthly net allowance.

I'm thinkin of giving the orange phone back and taking it up on t-mobile.

Questions:

Anyone know of a better deal than above (or could I get more from T-mobile if I haggle?)

Are t-Mobile any good? Soemone told me reception isn't up to much compared to orange.

Any signif better phones than the N95 coming out fairly soon (or already out)?

Cheers in advance

I'm with T-nubile and I've never had any problems with reception. If you live south of Brum you should be ok with 3g reception. You can check coverage on their website...

http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/personal/p...3?ref=homepage

web and walk is a good idea if you intend to do alot of browsing

Are you sure it's £37.50 per month and not £42.50? The tariff that gives you £180 worth of calls/texts is £35 per month and Web n Walk, which gives you "unlimited surfing" (fair usage policy says 1GB) per month, is £7.50. This is probably the best deal that you can get at the moment that includes web surfing, and you can always cancel the Web n Walk package at a later date and only pay £35 a month

Yeah but then you will get screwed for web usage at "2.35 or somethis per mb on voda.

Looking at the t mobile one that gives you £120 worth of credit not £180. It's £80+£60=£140 more than the 18 month one over a 12 month period.

This means the 18 month one effectively has nearly 4 months free with more usage allowance.

and you are tied in for a further 6 months, there is only one reason why the networks are pushing 18 month contracts and its not for our benefit. 12 months is all I will ever get as I like to have the newest phone and in 12months the n95 will be obsolite.

Re: N95 Best Tariff?

Managed to get the phone for free in a carphone warehouse store, the T mobile site does offer the £42.50 contract at £37.50 but it requires an upfront payment of £86 which works out to be the same as the deal i got, plus delivery charges.

Wasn't really a hard sell either since i went in with a view to buying the phone and got to have a little play with a working model before i bought.

Yes but 4 of those 6 months are effectively free with the money saved over the previous year! I can handle paying for 2 extra months to get 4 for free. And every month will have an extra £60 on the 18 month contract. It doesn't seem such a screw over to me.

@ andrewjh009 Are you on 18 or 12 month contract? If on 18 and paying £42.50pm you are worse off than what you could get directly from a T-mobile shop.

Re: N95 Best Tariff?

Have a look at this site for comparison of N95 deals.

http://www.mobilechecker.com/compare....asp?phone=n95

There are heaps of these sites on the web. Most have the same deals. Still worth checking other sites as one might have a deal that the other wont

Re: N95 Best Tariff?

Up until recently, I never would have thought to go to a highstreet retailer to get a new phone but, getting my N95 from Phones 4U changed my mind.

After a good haggle with the sales guy and his boss, I got the phone (unlocked and unbranded) for free, 500 minutes talk time and 500 texts for £40 a month on a 12 month contract. I did have to pay for the dreaded insurance at £9.99 a month but, this will be cancelled after the obligatory 3 months. I'll also drop the tariff back after the contractural 9 month period too, as I don't tend to make a huge amount of calls or texts. This was with Vodaphone.

I see this as me paying £30 for the phone which, I'm more than happy to do and, I just sold my W850i and that will pay for the remaining 6 months I have on a current contract.

To be fair, I probably should of haggled a bit harder and not agreed to the insurance but, at the time (I wasn't going in to buy the phone, merely look at it) I thought I got a good deal.

I guess the bottom line is that face to face, you have much more chance of getting a cheap deal, especially, if there a a number of competitors just round the corner
