Fitting HCB-30 Hands Free

Hi,
Anyone out there fitting a HCB-30 hands free car kit from Sony?
Got one in the post today and was just looking to ask a few questions about fitting it like where I wire the power to?
Everything else seems pretty straightforward
but I thought I'd ask before I start ripping my girlfriends car to pieces.

Re: Fitting HCB-30 Hands Free

Hi Craig,

I have fitted various Nokia carkits for people but never that particular model but I'd say they are pretty much the same. I usually just splice the wiring into the loom that goes to the stereo as that will usually have a constant +ve, ignition +ve and a -ve all near each other. If the stereo has a 'mute' line and the carkit supports this, then it makes it easy to wire that too. IMO its best to actually solder the connections if you can, rather than just twist and tape.

Re: Fitting HCB-30 Hands Free

Cheers Paul,
The kit came with a kind of pass through connector, cables plug into it and the other end goes into the stereo so that makes it a bit easier. The main problem is with the (I assume) power plug.
There is a plastic plug with six pins (3x2), something I'm more used to seeing with pc motherboards. I'll take the stereo out tonight and hopefully there will be an empty socket sitting there waiting for something to plug into it (does that ever happen when you're doing some DIY? )
