Confused about sim

How do I know what sim cards will work on my nokia phone. I want free ones preferrably to send 1 or texts on each.

you could borrow a few mates sims to try them out

Those sim cards are free anyway, so there's no harm in requesting a few

If your mates are all on the same network, you could try going into a phone shop and asking to borrow one of their test sim cards (most shops have quite a few).
