Orange SPV E650

Does anybody happen to know anymore about this device, particularly an estimate on when it may be available?

I'm due to upgrade my phone around the end of this month, I currently have a Nokia N80 and it's by far the best phone I've had, the wi-fi is fantastic. Now that I've realised a phone can do so much more, I'm leaning toward a Windows Mobile device for my next phone. I currently have a NAVMAN PiN570 Pocket PC and whilst that is good in its own way, I don't like having two devices and would like to get something that combines the best of both.

Now that Windows Mobile 6 has been released I think that's the route I'd like to take for my next phone and HTC seem to offer a good range of devices, their newly announced HTC S710 is a Windows Mobile 6 device and will be available through Orange as the SPV E650.

Here's an image of the device:

It's certainly not the prettiest but it seems to pack a good set of features. The downside for me is that there appears to be no mention of a touch screen, I find it hard to believe a Windows Mobile device could be controlled without a stylus?

If anybody happens to know when Orange may begin selling the SPV E650, please share it with us. Looks like it'll be a Windows Mobile 6 device or a Nokia N95 for me, decisions decisions.

Re: Orange SPV E650

I've had the c600 (which used WM5) for just under a year now, and I really like it. It doesn't use a stylus either, and the navigation is not really a problem.

Come upgrade time, I'm very tempted by the N95, but the price may be an issue, so this may be a good one to fall back on.

Re: Orange SPV E650

I'm choosing between the N95 and this too. The downside for me with the N95 is that I don't know how good it'll be out of the box. The N80 wasn't quite ready when I first got it, it took a few firmware upgrades for the phone to work as I wanted it to. Hopefully the N95 won't be the same.

HTCs website says it will be out first half of the year as part of Orange's new Signature range.

Re: Orange SPV E650

It's out on Orange's website too, free with just about every contract.

Here's a very positive review of the phone too: http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile...-Smartphone/p1

Has anybody tried it for themselves yet? I think I'll be heading into an Orange shop sometime soon to give this phone a whirl.
