N80 and Tom Tom 6

After three weeks of getting nowhere with Tom Tom tech support I thought I'd aske about a problem with the above in here.

I originally had this Tom Tom card in my N73 and it worked fine. Having now transferred it to my new N80 (the N73 went back) it won't work.

Whenever I view the card under file manager - it appears that the important start.exe file, amongst others, has a blue circle with a ? in it - when selected it says unable to open the file.

Tom Tom keep telling me to restart/reset my phone which I have done - I have also tried it with V3 and V4 firmware!!

They now it has been used in a previous phone and this I think is the problem as there is a .bif file present with all the details of the N73 in it??

My Network is 3.

Any clues??

Re: N80 and Tom Tom 6

sounds like a tricky one!

if the .exe file is still present on the memory card, can you connect the phone in mass storage mode, run the exe and then disconnect it?

or if you MOVE the exe file off the mem card, disconnect the phone, connect up again and copy it on again (so it has a new date stamp etc) and then see if it runs??

Re: N80 and Tom Tom 6

Thanks for the reply.

Tried both - still no change?

When I tried to run the start file from the computer - it said it was not a valid Win32 file??

I have had Tom Tom working fine on my n80 for about 2 months now, I had a few problems at first with the bluetooth dropping out, but a firmware upgrade sorted that out.

Re: N80 and Tom Tom 6

Yep Tom Tom 6 is fully compatible with the N80 - confirmed on the Tom Tom website - the problem seems to be when you try to use it on a second 'phone??

Tom Tom have promised to call me to rectify the issue??

Re: N80 and Tom Tom 6

I keep having problems with linking my nokia smartphone to tomtom too - their tech support seems to be appalling - a case of once you get the product and they get their cash they are no longer interested.. Shame really because both products are great, though not easy to pair

tom tom 6 works with the n80 but check that you have the latest firmware on your n80 you can get a firmware download from nokia website via your usb cable for your phone latest firmware version 4.0

have you upgraded your software via the nokia upgrade link from your pc with your data cable for the latest firmware this should help
make sure you back your data up first though
