giving notice of cancellation

my contract is up in 24 day's time.
i'm on an O2 high street tariff, ad the upgrade prices in the stores are extortionate compared to their online tariffs.

thing is, i cant just change over to an online tarrif, i have to cancel my current contract first.

what i need to know is can i give my 30 days notice now, or do i have to wait till the contract actually ends first?

also do i ask for a PAC code in the letter, or do i need to phone them for this?

If so when should i phone?

and finally, does anyone have the address in which to send the letter or cancellation.

thanks for any help received

kevin

Any time from now. Getting a PAC code isn't in itself a notfication of cancellation, although it does go towards any notice period if you actually use it. If you don't use the code within 30 days then nothing happens, the PAC code expires and your contract continues as normal.

To sum up, if you want to cancel your contract after your minimum term has ended, then you need only order your PAC code, once you actually use it your account will automatically be considered cancelled with the 30 day notice period begining the day you received the PAC. DO NOT cancel your account and then ask for a PAC, if your account gets cancelled before you have a chance to use the code then you wont be able to port your number out. At least, this is how it should work, you may want to contact o2 CS to confirm.

Re: giving notice of cancellation

i asked for mine recently, was on a month to month contract
called to ask for the pac and they said it would be in the post,
7 days later, called again and said they would post it again,
7 days later...yep the same!
dont know if this is correct, but my new network id taken up with said id have to give them the pac within 28 days of connection otherwise id have to stick with the temp number given by them.
called 3 days before and they ended up giving it to me over the phone!
why they couldn't have done that in the 1st place i don't know,
but they got an extra month out of me!
