Transfer from O2 Direct to O2 Carphone Warehouse

Got a question, that I'm desperately trying to get answered..

My wife has an O2 online contract and her contract is up for renewal in two days. Last year, we managed to get a new Sony phone and more minutes and the line rental reduced.

We're trying to get her contract renewed, and speaking to O2 about a new phone, they say that cos we had a phone last year they won't give us a new phone.

We found a good deal on Carphone Warehouse for a Motorola RAZR K1, for an 18 month contract, 600 mins any net any time, 100 text, 15 months half price rental, blah, also with O2.

Now what O2 are telling us is that it is not possible to transfer our existing number from them to this phone on Carphone Warehouse to also go onto the O2 contract.

Several websites I've been on contradict this, but because the number is critical to my wife's business, we really need to hold the number.

So, can I transfer my number from O2 Direct to another O2 service provider?

ScroZuk..

p.s. said to missus that moving to the 18 month contract will be less stressful, as would only have this every 18 months!!

No O2 is O2 it does not matter who you use. Your still with O2.

your getting the run around........the Motorola RAZR K1 is available from 02 direct.

Ring them up ask ask for the leaving customer/sales/upgrade team and ask them that you WANT yes use WANT in a nice way this deal. If they say NO leave it for a hour and ring back. A few months ago I upgraded my mobile with vodafone and used the fact that it was a NEW 18 month contract they should be nice and give me a lattest phone. The guy said yes and give me some extras!!! I only spend £20.00 per month!

It depends on the person you speak to but you will be able to get this direct from O2.

Re: Transfer from O2 Direct to O2 Carphone Warehouse

Thanks for that.. we did ask for the K1 from O2 as it was available, but they wanted £189 for it, which we then got down to £109, but won't budge any more.

Wife is currently on a 300min and 100 text £15per month package, and is happy to stay on that if they can give her the phone, but they say no.

The phones they have offered are some Samsung flip phones (has to be a flip phone!), which she doesn't like. She seems to be one of those people who have fallen into the Motorola lover category, cos she used to have a V150 and then a V600 and never had a problem with them (apart from the V600 now dying on the battery front!).

O2 have offered us a Sony Z710i (which I think is out today!) for £20, and a new contract for £15 per month, for 500 mins any net any time, and 500 texts...

I think that we may have to resign ourselves to not being able to get the K1, and take the Z710i.. if we do, I hope it's not too bad a phone.. missus says it looks a bit 'blokeish'..

You could always port your number out of O2 to a PAYG sim only provider such as EasyMobile - https://www.easymobile.com/ , wait a couple of weeks, get a PAC code and rejoin O2 as a new customer via CPW getting the deal your after.

Re: Transfer from O2 Direct to O2 Carphone Warehouse

Yes i did the above to port my number from Orange -> Orange

I just cancelled my Orange contract and ported the number to an easyMobile PAYG sim, then ported it back into my new Orange contract

The whole thing only took a week or so from getting the PAC code to porting back to Orange. And i was never left with my phone line disconnected for even a minute

There are even a few clever tricks you can do to get some free credit on the easyMobile sim to use in the interim so you dont end up having to spend much money for the porting period that you are using the PAYG sim

Re: Transfer from O2 Direct to O2 Carphone Warehouse

o2 are talking ****e, the only time you cant port from a contractt o a contract is if it happens to be on the same billing system then you have to move it to PAYG then back to the contract.

if your going to CPW (o2) they have their own systems and own billing plataforms as everything is done inhouse with them so you wont really be an o2 customer, rather a CPW one!

Tell them they are tlaking ****e and if they say they arent tell them to confirm it with teh porting team and that will shut them up

Re: Transfer from O2 Direct to O2 Carphone Warehouse

Hi, thanks guys for the replies..

I think the missus will try again tonight.. as pixelpixel said, it does depend on teh person you get. The one guy we spoke to Dan, although wasn't overly accommodating, was polite. The second one was spoke to was quite combative..

His response to the note that the battery has died in the old phone was, "Go and buy a new battery then!"..

Interestingly, on the O2 website, the K1 phone is available as a free phone on certain contracts.. so if they've got these knocking around, don't know why they're being awkward. Also, if we're to take on this new Z710i phone which apparently has only been released today, why give us a brand new phone when they could give us a phone that's been out for up to two months!!

Madness..

Carphone Warehouse have replied to my question that I am not able to move my number from O2 Direct to their O2 contract. I think in future, will do what some of you have done and PAC across to the PAYG SIM, then PAC back again after a couple of weeks.

They will not give you a free K1 as it is a more expensive handset for them to buy in.

If you do go the PAC route then I just got an 02 contract from Carphone Warehouse with 11 months Cashback of £330 and 250 xnet minutes + 100 texts. Now you don't obviously get the phone you want (I got Motorola L6) but with the money you save you can probably buy the phone you want anyway. Watch the price of the phone you want drop within a few months once the hype blows over.

Also, can anyone tell me how I can find out how many of my free minutes I have used up?
