Yes - my 14 month old son has just microwaved my 6680 phone - thanks to my wife!!!!

I need a 6680 quick to see what I can restore from Nokia Communications centre - anybody around the Chester area can help??

This is urgent as I am an IT Contractor and all my numbers are on the phone but the sim and memory are fried.

if the numbers are on the sim and the sim wont work on another phone then you have lost them
will the phone power up at all?
tried another battery?

As far as I know, Nokia's backupfiles only exist for internal memory only, not SIM card contents. So if all your numbers are on the sim card and you cannot access them using it in another phone, then you have lost them completely.

Judging by your description, I'd hazard a guess that you cannot power the phone up to access the internal memory using a USB cable and PC Suite?

You might get some luck taking it to a specialist for data recovery, but this isn't guaranteed and might be costly....

Your operator should be able to give you a call history. Will be numbers only, and no names to go with them. Better than nothing.

This is why I have a printed copy, a copy on my PC, on my sim, on the phone memory and on the phone memory card of my contacts.

Had this type of problem before, so i invested in a sophisticated sim card back up device...........its called a roladex sorry, i do sympathise with your situation, honest!

My 6680 allowed me to back up the phone contents and the sim contents, I live in wirral(near chester) but sold the phone about 6 weeks ago when I plumped for the turkey that is the N73.

Thanks to all,

I have a backup that I have been able to open up and there is numbers in there from texts and from my contacts list. This backup is quite old though, so I am hoping once I connect a 6680 via Bluetooth (bought one for £35 from the forums yesterday), my numbers/contacts etc will sync up as well as doing the restore.

I got an M3100 yesterday from orange for 49.95 (could of had the P990i for the same price - hope I have made the right choice I loved my old P800 but I did not like the keyboard at the bottom of the screen - a bit unusable in my opinion), and the replacement SIM arrives in the next day or two.

Do you think I should sue Nokia for not saying do not put in a microwave (mind you if they did - my son can't even talk yet - nevermind read )

I have to give Orange their due - I phoned them on Saturday evening to get a replacement SIM and it has arrived this morning!!! talk about service and everybody I spoke to was great
