Re: D900 - apostrophe ?

According to the manual your press and hold the # key to enter the symbol mode which you then scroll down until you can select the apostraphe.

Re: D900 - apostrophe ?

I'm well annoyed about this! It should be in the punctuation symbols of the repeated press of the 1 key!

It is with T9 dictionary on (1 key, then 0 key scroll) but I don't like predictive text!

Its never been on previous Samsung models. Rather than pressing "1" anyway until it comes up isn't it much simpler to hold one button, scroll and select it of a list.

Re: D900 - apostrophe ?

Hi, changing the subject slightly, but as mentioned above - Is there anyway to turn off the predictive text? Drives me nuts!

TIA....

Erm, no?

It's like the fourth press of the 1 key on Nokias - half a second job. As opposed to a 1 second key press to access a sub-menu, and then a scroll, and then a 5, and then an 'ok'!

The fact that it's never been on Samsung models isn't a defence! It just makes it worse! And, it's only applicable to normal text, predictive it's there! So that makes it a bug, or poor UI in my opinion.

So. I'm entitled to be annoyed about it. And. I resent the rolleyes! .

Holding down the star key removes predictive text.

So you're getting annoyed about the fact that you have to press 4 buttons to get it rather than, oh yes 4 buttons on the Nokia, erm...

Its not just applicable to normal text either, the reason it appears on predictive text is because if you press 1 (full stop) followed by a letter, it automatically changes it to an apostraphe, that's why its predictive. Its not a bug and poor UI has got nothing to do with it. Again, try reading the manual.

When you finished writing the text, select options and choose Save and Send.

Well, I was given the phone by a friend who has upgraded - didn't have the manual...and I can't downloaded the user manual at work as it's a pdf document.....

So, like most people, I have to rely on the knowledge and goodwill (or not) of fellow Forum users to help out, hardly the end of the World is it?
