Lightbulb New Mobile Phone Contract Help Needed

Hey all, my contract with O2 finishes at the end of this month and im looking for a suitable replacement. So, i was wondering if you could help me (I was hoping maybe someone could recommend a contract they have just taken up or an offer you may have seen);

Im after a contract with the following guidelines (bearing in mind i text a lot more than i call) -

Open to prettymuch any network
Only a 12 month contract (no 18 month contracts)
No more than £30 per month (inc. Insurance)
Minutes - 50+ (with option of increase)
Texts - 100+ (with option of increase)
Free phone

My current contract is this;

O2
12 month contract
£23.99 p/m (inc. Insurance)
50 mins (I usually go over the limit)
200 texts (I usually go over the limit)
SonyEricsson w800i

However, a renewal of my contract bumps it up to £29.99 p/m (i do get 100 mins and 500 texts though), which might seem good but its a further £6 every month and i wont use what im paying for (so £72 over the year is silly really). O2 dont run a smaller contract which sucks so ive started looking at ones from other networks (like the T-Mobile "Flex" thing)

However, to make things more complicated the network coverage for my area is bad for any network but O2.

On the plus side though, a few months back when my mate went to cancel his O2 contract to go with a T-Mobile deal offering a free Xbox 360 Core, O2 offered him the same contract terms as the T-Mobile offer but with £280 instant cashback to cover the cost of a Premium 360. So maybe they could offer me a better deal at the threat of losing me and everyones happy.

So, apologies for the HUGE post but im in a pickle . Thanks in advance

Re: New Mobile Phone Contract Help Needed

My contract has just finished with O2 and I rung them up and stated I wanted to cencel because I'd seen a better deal elsewhere (mentioned the Virgin mobile deal £25 a month, 12 months, 300mins, 300 texts) and after a bit of talking they offered to better that deal.

Got £25 a month (500mins (anytime) and 500texts) They will budge if you say you're going to leave. Failing that, the virgin deal isn't bad!

Re: New Mobile Phone Contract Help Needed

I recently threatened to leave O2 because the new deal they were offering was rubbish. I even wrote to the cancellations department.

In the end, O2 gave me the O2 Discount 500 tariff (500 any time, cross network minutes and 400 texts) plus a free Nokia 6280 for the princely sum of just £10 a month. I can also upgrade again in 9 months if I wish.

Seems like retentions are more important to O2 than new customers

Cool Re: New Mobile Phone Contract Help Needed

Well i rung O2 and asked to cancel due to a better offer i had seen with t-Mobile (Flext 25 for £20-a-month [400txts + 100 mins]). So O2 offered me 500 txts and 200 mins for £15-a-month on a 12 month contract, i was very happy with this as i didnt want to leave O2 anyway, however, i wanted the Sony Ericsson K800i phone with the contract but they said it will cost me £79.99! An alternate is the W850i which would cost £49.99! For free the best phones on offer to me are the K610i and the W300i which arent even as good as my current phone (W800i). Or another alternative is £100 credit on my account.

Well the contract is ideal, £15-a-month plus £4.99 for insurance means im getting a real bargain for my £19.99-a-month. But its the phone that is really niggling me, id take the £100 credit but my W800i is on its last legs now so i need a replacement. I refuse to take a step back so it looks like ive gotta shell out £49.99/£79.99

So what do you think i should do? Is there an even better deal out there? ive found a few but the only ones to offer the K800i for free are £35-a-month (exc. insurance) and theyre on 18 month contracts. Some offer half price line rental and other gimmicks but they depend on "cashback".

To summarise -
im after a deal to rival the one O2 have offered (500txts, 200 mins, K800i for £79.99)
It must come with the W850i or K800i
It cant be more than £20-a-month (exc. insurance) unless its offering something amazing

So, thoughts?

Cheers
