Will a Mini-S support GPS software?

Just wondering whether I can install and use GPS navigation stuff on my Mini-S and also where to get hold of some GPS software. I searched the forum but nothing came up, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Will a Mini-S support GPS software?

You need TomTom Navigator 5.21 or later and a Bluetooth GPS receiver

Re: Will a Mini-S support GPS software?

What is a bluetooth GPS reciever? Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to GPS things.

I'm assuming it's a thingy to recieve GPS signals, but would the bluetooth radio in my phone count as a reciever or do I need a seperate, more powerful one?

[edit] Okay, just been browsing the TOMTOM website and it looks like I can buy the reciever, but not the software, which is a bit of a bummer. Also, the miniS doesn't appear to be in the compatibility list, although I think it may be because that list is quite dated. So, where can I get the Navigator 6 package and will it work on my MiniS? Thanks again.[/edit]

Software here.

http://www.handnav.co.uk/product_details.php?id=494

try here for a cheap GPS receiver

The Bluetooth Radio in your phone is just for communication with other Bluetooth devices i.e. headset/GPS Receiver. The Mini S has no GPS receiver built in

You'll also need to download the patch from TomTom website to take TomTom5 up to TomTom 5.21 for it to work on the Mini S.

Installation isn't particularly straight forward though. Take a look here for installation advice on the Mini S (AKA HTC Wizard)

Cool thanks.

That TomTom package you linked to, does that include all the gubbins that the TomTom website say are included with thier package? Things like the MiniSD card and such.

Re: Will a Mini-S support GPS software?

No. You can buy TomTom on an SD card but the Mini S needs a MiniSD card.

If you want a car mount I've found the Brodit Active holders with a ProClip mount are excellent quality (not cheap though) from the Handnav site
