Re: sony or samsung which is best

I just upgraded to a SE w810i from a D600. The D600 was an ok phone but with very limited features such as you only have 2 colour options for the menu which really annoyed me and you could only use Samsungs own tones for a message alert and well they were pretty lame. I had one problem regarding predictive txt where for some reason the phone would not remember some of the words i added to the libary, not sure if this was a fault with the phone or just standard. I've had the w810i since Friday and i'm loving it, you've got some nice choice of menus to choose from, i'm on o2 so no sure if this changes with the provider your on. I would say it's by far the easiest phone i have had for txt messaging. The SE is alot bigger than the D600 though and well i do miss the size of it fitted nicely in my pocket plus i loved the slide facility (but by no means is the SE a brick). I know the k750i was a excellent phone as i nearly got it last year but ended up going for the D600 and well with how impressed i am with the w810i i wish i had joined the SE club along time ago. Hope this helps is making your decision mate.

Re: sony or samsung which is best

Generally, while I find nothing wrong with Samsungs bar the lack of customability, I find Sony Ericssons to be much better. I'm currently using a W810i, and I have had a K750i, W800i, K800i, W900i, P910i and I've used a P990i, K608i, V800 and a load more in my work. Samsungs, less so, but I have experience with the D500, D600, X680 and E370. All are reliable, but very basic.

...OK... I admit, samsungs aren't customisable... but I've NEVER had a single problem with any of the Samsungs I've ever owned (my six year old R200 works as well as the day it left the shop!)... and all I ever hear at work is bitching about crappy SE software and build quality...

Just me tho...

Problem is if a phone can go wrong with me it will do and if i have to change another one she will kill me so as much as i would like all the goodies that go with it the phone must be reliable that is why i have been told either a samsung or se. Nokias are easy to fix but full of bugs so i have been told

I work with both Samsungs and Sonys, and Sonys do come back a bit more than Samsungs, but then again, we do sell a lot more Sonys so law of averages applies here.

Re: sony or samsung which is best

I've got a Samsung Z320i (similar to the D600 but a little bit squarer). It's not given me any problem since I've bought it last year and it was a huge improvement to my NEC phone.

However, now that I have seen my friends Sony Ericsson K610 I'm really jealous because the features are better and the camera quality. It's one of them phone's you won't get bored with - guna ask 02 for an upgrade.

Re: sony or samsung which is best

I would say that Sony ERicsson are better, although a freind of mine has a D500 on Orange and it's pretty good. But I love my K750 and can't wait till I upgrade sometime this month to either a K800I or P990I or M600I decisions decisions.

Video is fairly crap on the Sonys. Even on the K800i. Nokias have the best video from my experience. Samsung video is a lot better than the Sony, but still picture quality from the K750i up is a lot better than any comparable phone (the 2.0 camera on the K750i is better than the one on the D600)

Personally, I prefer the Sonys, as most people do tend to. Can't go wrong with either. I would recommend you pop down to your local shop to compare. If you can't, go for the Sony.

Most people tend to until the buggers go wrong on them. I know it sounds like I have a vendetta against SonyEricsson, but in terms of reliability I think that any Nokia that isn't an N series or a 6280 would beat any SonyEricsson in the reliability stakes. The software on Sony Ericsson handsets is well known to slow down with use... and thus far the K800i white screen syndrome is not the worst software fault I've heard of recently (Nokia N series hold that crown) but it is still above an acceptable level.

So... most people tend to go SonyEricsson instead of Samsung... and IMO that's more to do with the fact that people go for the specs of a handset's toys these days instead of their practical functions... but an iPod will still kick the ass of the W series soundly, and any serious photographer will use a half decent digicam anyway despite however many megapixels SonyEricsson pack in. Bear in mind that Nokia's main beef with reliability is to do with getting these toys to work... The fact that Samsung's current range is about as exciting as watching the same episode of eastenders 50 times over is probably marketing suicide, but they might just make a name for themselves that no other manufacturer has at the moment - as being reliable.

Strange how nothing seemed to go wrong with the Nokia 3310, the Samsung R200 or the Ericsson T10 isn't it? (though that's the Ericsson side of the equation which were decent handsets... the Sony J series were absolute crap)

Re: sony or samsung which is best

I bought an Sony 800i yesterday and just watched sky sports news on the phone and the video is poor quality often gets pixelated and you dont see anything. Sky sports is also reduced in size which does not fill the screen though you can make it slighlty bigger but you still can't read any of the txt on it.
You get the first month free so will canceal it after that.

I watched some football coverage on it and that was poor also, seems the whole video is poor really.

Re: sony or samsung which is best

The handset has to be reliable if it is`nt, it dose not matter how many toys it has and from what i have been reading on the web it seems samsungs have the edge.I am past the stage of changing this and that, having said that what is wrong with a few toys

Nothing wrong with toys... unless they don't work.

yes... definitely not a BAD handset, but I have heard of software bugs, but you can upgrade the firmware over the air from the Nokia site anyway...
