Yes the menu on 02 is much better than 3. I'm on 02 and my mates on 3 and he has an awful menu. Mine looks class.

Your differences will be basic and cosmetic only... the software is every bit as susceptible to crashing and burning.

If you pay for them you can, I think 3 has better pricing on 3G services but you'll have to look into the costs involved.

O2 one will more than likely be unlocked.

O2 normally don't lock their contract mobiles. 3 always lock theirs. However if you get a 3 one it will cost you £40 after you finish your 12 month contract to unlock it.

Both O2 and 3 modify the phone menu, possibly 3 modify it more than O2, but you can use 3rd party software to flash the phone to the generic menu. This costs less than £10.

If you buy from O2 make sure they give you a free usim card that will enable your 3G service.

O2 do provide 3G sims in packaging with ALL new 3G handsets at present, if one is not supplied then just give Customer services a bell and they'll send one out and in the meantime a 2G SIM will operate for usual services.

Go o2, I did and got an unbranded and unlocked phone.

You won't get that with 3, obviously compare contracts though.

jj81 - what do you mean with free usim card, I just got k800 o2 contract and it came with one sim card which got me connected to o2 network, haven't tried the internet from the phone though.

my phone is unbranded and the menu system is really cool.

when I first upgraded to 3G mobile with O2 they forgot to give me the right Sim card so I could not make video calls. Every time I rang them they told me all the settings on my account were correct and asked me to check my handset. However eventually I found out that I needed a differrent sim card for O2 3g services, unlike vodafone where the original sim card will work.

Anyway, it looks like this:

They should send you one, but if not just contact O2 and they will send you one free of charge.
