What we really think of these new phones

Hi All

Had N80 for a few weeks,

Good:
Looks Good
Not too bad build quality
Screen very good
wifi is v handy when I use it. But in real world thats not that often, same with internet browsing.
Camera ok

Bad:
Too heavy
Slider terrible when in pocket (have auto lock now, but thats not perfect)
Original firmware full of problems; locking up,restarting, poor battery
Just not as easy to use as 'older' nokias

I'm not one for holding back progress but If I was honest with myself, this phone would go in the bin and I will start using my 6230i again.

I can get another phone as a contract is coming up which one to go for of the new breed.

My thoughts

D900: no 3g (so what!!! I suppose), a bit odd looking
w810i never had a sony
k800 "

Are these phones really worth it ? or should we stick with the smaller, lighter ones. that we can text with and make phone calls!!!!

Re: What we really think of these new phones

Sony Ericsson phones are fantastic
I had a Nokia 7610, I hated the fact that the volume was controlled by the thumb pad, very stupid idea and am I right in saying most current Nokia's are the same? So last year when my contract rang out I tried a V600I briefly but really hated the Vodafone branding, so I went back to Orange and got a K750I and haven't looked back, brilliant little phone. I am now due another upgrade and am waiting for the M600I and P990I to come out on Orange to see what there like, if there too big or exspensive then I'm getting a K800I as I have seen and played with it and it feels really solid in the hand and I know it'll be easy to use, I've hardly read the manual for the K750I.
You'll have trouble finding an easier Nokia to use as they all use Symbian OS60 version 3 the same as your N80 now apart from the bottom end models.
Go and look at a K800I, SE phones are VERY easy to use and feature packed with the best camera on a phone at the moment. You may also want to look at the K610I as it's nice and compact or the W850I for a sliding walkman phone.
Samsung are nice and the ultimate ones very thin, they are comming with 3G very soon as well.

I love my Sony Ericssons. I've had Nokia, LG and Samsung since, and while they were decent enough, I keep on going back to my Sonys. I prefer the W810i over the K800i though. The K800i was nice, camera wise, but slightly too big for me. W810i is the perfect size.

Re: What we really think of these new phones

I moved from the n80 to the SE k800i last week, both are great phones but i defintaly prefer the K800i. The screen is just as good, the software is similar altough not symbian, the camera is better and its a better shape to text with.

Re: What we really think of these new phones

Im not a big fan of the new mobiles, they just dont get me pumped up waiting for release day. I dont care about all-in-one solutions with camera/mp3. A nice small colour phone is all I need, Im looking for a mint condition 6100, best mobile I ever had I reckon

Re: What we really think of these new phones

I had a 6100 briefly, changed it as I felt my big thumbs were too big for it he he. I think one of the best phones I ever had was the Nokia 7110, that spring loaded cover was just tops.

Re: What we really think of these new phones

N80 - I have this - I love it but I think the build quality and the slide could be much better. The screen is the best - I just love it. Even compared to the N93- the N80 has the better screen.

N73- had this and sold it. I liked this phone but I did not like the shape of it and it was very buggy .

What can't understand - is this obsession with thin phones- like the new Samsungs and the V3s. I looked and held the new D900- it's like a pancake ! Really I like to be able to hold something well in my hand .

V3x- that gave me RSI !

Just my opinion.
