K800i memory options...

Am I right in thinking that the 800i only takes the new memory stick micro cards?

Website states "Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) support" but does that mean it also takes pro-duo cards?

What's the street price on th enew micro cards then as 2Gb Pro Duo cards are cheap as chips these days.

Re: K800i memory options...

The K800i only takes Memory Stick Micro (M2™). The biggest cards that are out for it at the moment are the 1gb cards. Prices for them start at around £35 but there are stock problems at them moment so are very hard to find at that price. 2gb cards are coming out at around the end of the year so prices should drop on the 1gb cards by then.

cheers tictac

Had the feeling that was the case.

Just typical of them to introduce yet another unecessary storage format that they can charge wads of money for and is only backwards compatible with all your old stuff.

How do you like the phone?

I like the idea of a decent 3mp camera I can carry everywhere with me, plus a decent MP3 player on board as well.

I got my kids a K750i last year and they love them to bits (managed to do without an upgrade for me and the Mrs and got a good price on them).

Am hoping the 800i is more of the same, with knobs on.

Re: K800i memory options...

Still impressed with it Chris, had it since the 1st week it came out and it is still amazing - the pictures are fine for most things i need, use the Cannon if fancy getting `arty` but the Sony holds it`s own very well - all the menus are as before on old Sony`s (had 700`s and 750`s before) but just that little bit more refined - have you gone into organizer and then to applications ? - go to `face warp` it`s worth the price of the phone just for that feature,so funny how various peoples features come out in the diferent modes, just save the funniest one and then assign it to their caller id - have nearly all my friends `warped`

No - unfortunately it doesn't come with a memory card!!
I bought a 1 gig M2 card this week from www.fonejunkie.co.uk for £39.99 with free delivery. Came within 2 days
Bit of a con that we have to keep forkin out for different format memory cards, but this phone is DEFINITELY worth the hassle of payin £40. By far the best phone I've had!!!
I got Orange to credit my account with £30, as it came with NO card at all, not even 64 meg. It's worth tryin it on with O2 I reckon......???!!

Thanks for that. That is a bit crapy not getting a memory card and having to spend to get 1, dont think the 70mb on the phone will last long.
Will have to try that tip to get some credit back for , hope it works
Apart from that it is a very good phone.

Re: K800i memory options...

Hi
Had my trusty T610 for what seems like forever but its been a bit dodgy lately.
So Im just about to get a k800 but needed a bit more info about memory etc.
I didnt know it comes without a card & I now know it has only 70mb on board so thanks for that.
Will it also let me use my own mp3's as ringtones ?

I had to ask T Mobile for the 256Mb memory card as it arrived without it. But they were pretty prompt in sending the extra memory. And yes you can use MP3s as ringtones. YOu need to put them in the ringtones folder on the phone (unless anyone knows different). I've tried selecting an MP3 file from my music on the memory stick and it won't have it. Possibly because it can get deleted easily.

I've had fun downloading old TV theme tunes and suchlike (bit of nostalgia). I now have the Tardis landing noise from Doctor Who as the mesage alert. (sad and geeky I know).
