unblocking lost or stolen phones?

i was just wondering... last year my husband lost his samsung d600 i reported it and o2 said that they would block the phone so that no one would be able to access it and we also had a pin number on it too.
There were a few things in the phone that I wouldnt like anyone to see. Can someone unlock the phone and see everything that was saved in it?

they would still be able to access the phone as normal but wouldnt be able to make/receive calls
unless you had protection on the pics (not sure if you can on these but you can on d500) then anyone will be able to see them.
the pin number only protects the sim.
if you had a passcode to use the phone then this may protect a bit but there is s/w available to reveal this if someone knows what they are doing

I'm in the same boat... lost my D600 on the bus last week and there's one or two pictures & messages on it that I wouldnt want anyone to see.... but I'm sure the person who has it now has wiped it and is using it as their own now anyway.

Just have to live with it...

Own up, who's been taking naked pictures on the camera phone?

Joking aside from a technical point of view, anyone that wanted to get those images, and was willing to try really hard probably could.

But it's much more likely they wouldn't bother, would be easier to wipe the lot and start again, rather than trying to figure out pin numbers.

It is completely illegal, but once stolen any half decent thief (who is unlikey to care that its illegal or they would be the worst thief ever) can just change the IMEI number and they are a unbarred phone complete with your pictures.
