any way to archive text messages?

Thanks.

I can give you 2 options. Either send them to your computer via bluetooth or you can also save them to your sim card. Have a few stored myself on my sim!

does bluetooth give a better range of connections than usb? because that doesn't display a link to my texts.

No usb is a fixed connection a > b

Bluetooth a > b, a > c and so on.

If you send message via bluetooth to your computer then you can backup via your computer! Thats if your pc has bluetooth.

Install a copy of MyPhoneExplorer (which is free) from here:

http://www.fjsoft.at/en/

on your PC. You'll then be able to archive your messages on the PC (via the USB cable).

To be honest I never got round to installing the Sony software - it seemed absurd to need 50MB of software just to interface with a phone.

Out of curiousity, does the Sony software actually do anything that MyPhoneExplorer doesn't?

Cheers Stompa for the link to that program - its really good...

...It even means I can actually go through the stuff on my w800 without crippling my thumb trying to get the "joy"stick to work!!

I installed Sony software many moons ago - but can't think of it being able to do anything that this package doesn't.

Thanks again.

I have installed the software but can't seem to get it to sync with my phone.

I have a w810 and the software seems to have installed fine, however when i click sync, it says nothing is found. I am using the usb connection as i do not have bluetooth in my laptop. Is this the problem? Any other software recommendations? Ideally just want to back up phone book and text messages.

Cheers

Craig

I assume that when you say you installed 'the software' you mean MyPhoneExplorer?

If so, then I don't know why it's not working for you. Works fine using USB with my K750i. Can you see your w810 in Windows Explorer when it's connected?

The only other free software I'm aware of is:

http://fma.sourceforge.net/

Yeah i mean the My Phone Explorer software. I can see my phone fine in windows explorer, and the software says it supports the W810i, so i'm not quite sure what the problem is. Cheers for the advice.

I haven't looked at it in too much detail but from use it seems to be just a browsing package, though it only sees media files not texts. i'll have a look a little later and see if there's any other goodies in there.

The annoying thing is there doesn't seem to be a downloadable manual. So to find out what it's capable of doing you have to install it and then (presumably) there are some Help files.

Just checked it, there's no help file that i can see but the package includes a browser to see media files (tunes and pictures) a sync package to download addresses and contacts, some kind of slideshow creator and a mobile network wizard which seems to allow you to use your mobile as a modem. only the last seems to be of any value.

OK, thanks for checking. That definitely doesn't sound worth bothering with then!

Thanks
