Orange ( Haggling)

Hi all, my current Orange contract came up for renewal this month. I bought my Orange contract from e2save year ago with cash back. it worked out at £15pm and 200xnet mins but no texts..

Anyway i phoned Orange CS this morning saying i want to cancel unless you can offer better deat. cut the long story short.

I am now on the following

12 month contract
500 cross net mins
500 texts
free nokia 6230i + bt headset
all for £25pm

All new customers this tariff is really a whopping £45pm

I am very happy, anyone with a better deal then this from orange?

Shahid

Ooof. You've had better luck than I have with Orange in the past. I was actually going to ring Orange this week as my contract is now expired and was hoping to nab a deal out of them.

I'll be trying to get something out of them in the next few days so I'll let you know how I get on.

i phoned orange to see what they could offer for me to stay and the offer was appalling! even when i requested disconnection and i got a letter asking me to stay and phoned up again, the offer was WORSE!

needless to say i cancelled my contract. their customer retentions policy seems to fluctuate dramatically, from giving some people great deals to giving others nothing at all

I was once told they wouldn't/couldn't do a thing as the computer system simply wouldn't let them. After hearing this, this obviously isn't true. I would class myself as good customer of theirs with my line rental currently £40 a month - Orange themselves once said that makes me a valued customer when I rang up about a dodgy phone.

Really hoping they will be able to sort something out.

made me laugh when i phoned up to see what kind of upgrade deal they could offer me

the indian guy said i could "upgrade" my K750i to a 6320i

wow upgrade of the century! i nearly ****** myself laughing

i found the best deal was to end my contract, sign up under a diff name and i got 1750 txts, 400 anytime x-net mins and N80 for £50, all for £30/month, and that includes free 8mb broadband from them (+ free wireless router) which i currently pay £18/month for anyway, so in effect the phone contract is only costing me £12/month

anyone on an orange contract £30 upwards can get free broadband from them. the offer is valid to new + exisiting orange mobile customers, and new+exisiting orange (wanadoo) broadband customers, so basically anyone can get it

theres a big link in the offers section of the website

"what you get

The package you'll receive is Broadband Plus -
normally £17.99 a month. This comes with:
up to 8 Meg speed
evening and weekend calls (via your broadband connection)
wireless connection
email spam and virus filters
parental controls

If you're on a different broadband package to this, we'll send you a Livebox - our modem that allows you to take advantage of free evening and weekend calls and a wireless connection. Livebox is not compatible with Apple Computers. "

I, personally, don't like the Orange 'free' Broadband offer as it ties you to the Orange network and an 18 month contract paying at least £30 per month and you still have to pay BT line rental at £11 pm (if your phone line is BT). This is a total monthly outlay of at least £41 pm plus some calls on BT.

I am going to cut my Broadband charge to zero by changing from BT to TalkTalk. With TalkTalk I can get my line rental and most of my calls for free including to 28 international destinations with the added advantage that on this package, which is £20.99 pm I get free Broadband. Drawbacks are that there is a one off set up charge of £29.99 and it is an 18 month contract (you can terminate the contract within the 18 months for a charge of £70 I think).
For my mobile phone I am on a 12 months cashback contract which effectively gave me a free phone and 200 anytime any network minutes over the 12 month period. I am also free at the end of the mobile contract to go to any other phone company and not lose my free Broadband.
So total cost is £20.99 per month for line rental, calls, free broadband and mobile phone (must not forget the BB set up fee of £29.99 though).

I managed to haggle them to 500 texts and 120 minutes (I don't phone much so even though its low its ample for me) and a new Z500 (this was last year when the phone had only just come out) for £20 a month which i didn't think was too bad.

Limited downloads

I looked at the orange b-band offer too but isn't it limited to 2gb per month?
