Charging N80 with supplied adaptor

I have just tried to use the 'old to new' charging adaptor supplied with my N80.

It powers the phone ok, but will not charge it at all. I know the phone is ok, because it charges fine at home using the new style charger.

Anyone else had this?

I am onto my third N80, the previous 2 did have a lot of software problems but all three were able to charge using the old charger with the new adaptor

Having exactly the same problem, recognises the charger is plugged in but just says "not charging" - almost like a stubborn kid!!

I am going to take the plunge and flash the OS this weekend and see if this helps , as i have a few more bugs that it should fix. (nokia service centre want to send it away for 2 weeks).

Question

Has anyone found a fix for this yet?

My G/F got her N80 last week & has this exaclt problem.

She plugs it in & although the phone lights up, she gets the "Not Charging" message on the screen.

probably just a defective adaptor, send it back to wherever you got it, it should work

although, im sure i remember reading somewhere that it might only work with the slightly newer adaptors (not the NEW small pin one, but the newER large pin ones) that came with more recent nokia phones rather than the older square ones, although why this would be i dont know as they should all supply the same voltage really!

Not had any problems with my adaptor....I've used it to charge my N80 using my old style Mains charger, in-car charger and USB charger.....All works OK.

I did however buy a cheap spare mains charger from http://www.m-99.co.uk (Where I've bought several chargers from in the past, with no problems), and there seems to be a loose connection, and I have to wiggle the connector a bit before it charges....the orginal charger/adapter seem to fit OK.

The adapter doesn't work with the old square chargers.

This is great, I now have to carry around two phone chargers at work. The 'new' small pin one for my N80, and also the 'old' square charger which was supplied with my new 6021 for work last week!

I wouldn't mind if their new phones were supplied with new chargers but they are still supplying the old ones!

My N80 has now run out due to shocking battery life and I have no option but to leave it on my desk plugged in!

Idiots

you can pick up a newer "contoured" large type charger for pence from fleabay

although admittedly you shouldnt have to, nokia should have made sure all previous ones were compatible

Aha.....

I think she was using a 'square' charger so I'll give it a try tonight with a non square one.

I'll let you know....

Indeed-the newer 'contoured' chargers work fine with the adaptor, so it looks like if you've got one of the older 'square' chargers then you won't be able to charge your N80.
