Question Cheapest monthly contract ?

I have a PAYG phone at present but am looking for a cheap contract phone deal ... I don't use my phone that much but thought it may be better to be with a contract.

Does anyone know the lowest cost monthly contract you can get ?

Thanks.

how much do you use your phone?

You can get 12 months free line rental on a 12 month contract i.e. it's £0

Your best bet is to firstly check the network sites and see what tariffs they have. Then check with the dealers (carphone warehouse, phone4u etc) as the networks sometimes allow them to offer exclusive deals.

Here is a quick calculation for you.....

Take your average top up spend and split it into two parts text and calls. Then divide these by you average call cost and text cost (per minute or per text) and that will give you what you use and therefore need from a contract.

eg. you top-up £20 per month average about say £14 on calls and £6 on text. Your average call cost is 25p per minute so you use 64 minutes a month. Your texts cost 10p so you use 60 text per month. So you need a contract that will cover that.

Also do watch out for free line rental. Ask if it is a cash back deal !!!!!!! this means that you will have to pay the full line rental every month and then claim the difference back later on. I have heard that only 55% of people actually get their money back. Not sure how true this is !!!!!!!!

I've done free line rental cashback scheme for about 3 years now and every single time i have got my cheque back.

As long as you do what they say you will get your money!

Always nice to hear, but what do you mean by "do what they want". What I've heard is that some of these newspaper ads use conditions to get out of paying cashbacks. I've never heard anything about highstreet dealers doing this...............

Usually no conditions. They just rely on people being lazy or forgetting. Surprisingly effective!

end of every 4th/8th/12th month you send your voucher along with the 1st page of bill and they send you a cheque payable to you within 3 weeks.

remarkably easy to do and according to some people remarkably easy to forget!

but i would never forget to redeem £140 every 4th / 8th/ 12th month!
