N80 firmware upgrade might 'fry the phone' according to CPW@Cribbs Causeway

So, after two days of failing to get through on the phone to Carphone Warehouse at Cribbs Causeway to book an upgrade for my N80 I decided just to drop in on Saturday on the way home.

Got there and the guy I spoke to said it was a 2 hour wait BUT they are finding that the upgrade may make the phone useless so that it will have to be sent back to Nokia (takes about 2 weeks apparently).

According to them there is no way of telling beforehand if the upgrade will work or not.

Decided not to bother, but somewhat strange for an official Nokia service centre to report such problems!

It's not unusual for CPW staff to try talking you out of a firmware upgrade, I get that all the time from them, it's risk free really cos if it goes tits up you get a replacement. personally I'll upgrade regardless.

Insist on the new firmware, my N80 has been near faultless now for 2 weeks since I installed the latest version. Prior to this update the phone was buggy, crashed and the battery life was awful.

Hi Goon3r

Can you please tell me what Firmware version you are using now following your upgrade? I am currently experiencing all the bugs and crashes and need to get mine sorted.

Thanks
