N80 will be available on Tmobile (apparently)

Hello

My name is *barbie* and I have just found this great place on my quest to verify the information I was given yesterday.

I am waiting to upgradge on T Mobile to the Nokia N80. However I didnt know if it was going to be available and according to Tmobile on 150 and the Tmobile stores they will not be carying it. The only problem is it HAS to be TMOBILE as it is the only network which works where I live.

However!

The guys from tmobile, both on the phone and in store said that they didnt like turning business away but I would be able to upgradge to the N80 at a general phone store. So I went to the CarphoneWarehouse and The Link and Phones 4 U. They had 02, Orange and Vodaphone in stock (albeit limited) and as yet no tmobile. However in Phones4u after playing with a real N80 (its fantastic btw) the guy said that according to his screen they WILL be getting Tmobile ones, but in 2 weeks. However I was quite scheptical about this and he suggested that if it is pushed back again, by then they will have recieved some "generic gsm" phones which will be able to upgaded to on any network, so TMobile will work on that. The Carphonewarehouse said the same, just that it would recieve generic stock by the end of next week.

However I was hoping that some kind soul on here may be able to shed some more light on it and to re assure me that it was not just piffle from the shop assistants.

If however it isnt available on Tmobile, ever, is the generic un branded option a real valid choice?

Cheers

*barbie*

The unbranded version will probably be better. It'll be faster and won't feature any of the horrible branding you usually see on phones. The only downside is that it might be more expensive.

I think it's crazy that T-Mobile won't be carrying the N80. Why wouldn't they carry a phone that's so obviously going to be popular? Since it's got WiFi, they could even do a tie-in with their T-Zones WiFi hotspots.
