You can view excel on S60 - something like MobiSystems OfficeSuite for S60 or Quickoffice may suit your needs although there may be a short period waiting for versions that work on the N80.
Tomtom will not currently work on N80, if/when tomtom is available you will need the software and GPS receiver.

The problem is the N80 is S60 version 3 and there is not many if any at all apps. that run on the N80. I am sure that updated versions will be released but only then would you be able to tell whether they suit your needs.

The N80 should come with a document viewer capable of viewing Excel files. If you wish to edit Excel files, you will need some 3rd party software but plenty exists. As ma1234 mentioned, the N80 is based on a very new version of Symbian and software compatibility at the moment isn't great. However, since Nokia has just released 6-7 phones based on the new version it's only a matter of time before all of the major software packages are compatible.

It's worth noting that all of the E-series phones (E60, E61 and E70) come with MS Office document editors as standard.
