Orange Pay as you Go - Is it really contract?

Hi,
I'm thinking of switching from Vodaphone to Orange. Looking on the orange website their pay as you go tarrif says that you need to 'top up' at least £10 per month. Er, isn't that a contract tarrif by another name? What happens if at the end of a month you still have credit left over and don't top up?

PS I'm switching from Vodaphone contract which is costing £15 per month and I don't really use the phone that much. I would have been happy to just switch to Vodaphone PAYG but they say that you have to write in to do that. So if they are being that obstructive then I may as well switch networks as well

You have to top up at least GBP10 in a month to get their bonus top-up reward (free texts etc). That's all. Otherwise you get no bonus, but your credit and "account" remain good forever. I think you maybe have to make a chargeable call every 6 months (by recollection only) to keep it active. That's the only "condition".

Unless you want to text a lot (and top up GBP10 pm) I'd go for the "same rates 24/7" tariff.
