Thie mini s is an OK phone, but I would hold and and wait for the HTC Hermes, it's the same size as the mini s, has the keyboard/wifi but a 2.1 MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and UMTS/3G as well the Quad Band GSM

Orange released the Mini S (aka HTC Wizard) late last year in mainland europe as the M3000, unlikely to get a UK release.

If you get hold of an O2 Mini S it will work fine with an Orange sim as O2 contract phones are now supplied unlocked by default

Orange are def not releasing the HTC Wizard in the UK. They currently have the M500 which is shortly to be replaced by the M600. The M600 will be similar to the HTC Wizard but without a slide out keyboard.

The HTC Wizard does have a slide out keyboard?

Orange M600 (aka HTC Prophet) - http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/6505.html

XDA Mini S (aka HTC Wizard) - http://www.my-xda.com/xdaminis.html

I'd quite like the M600, which is better than the current M500 (with a better processor, WM5, and wifi) but I'll probably get the XDA Mini S - as a developer I suspect the keyboard will come in handy, and the M600 doesn't have a firm release date from Orange yet (they say 'Spring 06' or 'April' but there's no signs of it yet).

Why would you want to do that, when you can get a brand new one for £49.99 with a £20/month contract from o2?

You wouldn't need to! they are all supplied by O2 unlocked. (As are all O2 contract phones now)
