I have Tom Tom running on my MDA Vario which is the T-Mobile version of the Mini.

You will need version 5.21

If you have TT5 from when it was first released you'll need to download the update from the tomtom site. I think the latest versions go straight on.

TomTom 5 does work fine as long as you use 5.21 update. you will need to copy the Cab files to the SD card and install that way as I beleive it doesn't install via Activesync from the TomTom CD

Indeed, I have it running on mine with a Bluetooth GPS receiver.
Just be aware that cabled GPS receivers don't work with the Mini S (or the Exec) due to the change in port architecture on these devices.

(Charge port is now USB not Serial)

YIKES

Is this still the case and is it not possible to change this over to another port by editing registry or something ?

I have an original TOMTOM wired GPS and been trying for hours to get it to work, thought I had made a booboo by selecting Wired GPS receiver as the GPS device while in the house playing around with the software before taking it to the car!

Please reply to this asap, I need to get this working in a few hours before I go away for a few days.

TIA

RIcco

will not work with a wired gds, it must be bluetooth gps, its all to do with the charging port and not able to accepy wired. also must not install from cd via active sync, you have to copy files over to sd card then copy the update files over and install from the device.

It does not tell you on the Tom Tom website how to install in on windows Mobile 5 though, they just give you the 5.21 update but no instructions...

Do you guys have a link to an online shop that has bluetooth at the best price, I saw a thread here somewhere that you all compared the 2GB MiniSD cards and thought it best to ask and get myself the best priced unit.

Is it better to get a TOMTOM device or is there a cheaper alternative that is easier to set up and use?

TIA

Vario/Mini S/Wizard will only run TomTom Navigator not TomTom mobile.

suspect your Nokia is runnning TomTom Mobile so in a word No. You'll need to get a copy of TomTom Navigator 5 + 5.21 update

Navigator is a seperate product so you'll have to buy it I'm afraid. Version 6 is mooted to be out soon so there may be an upgrade path or TomTom might be able to help. Depends on your timescales though.

Might know someone who will buy the Vario is you get rid though

being a bit blonde its probably something really simple :d anyway ive tried plugging this in the car ive established a blue tooth connection between the phone and the gps kit i can see it charges the phone etc but still not managed to get the gps connection, i did as instructed on the email i was sent by gpsforless as the kit didnt come with instructions

assign com port
pick the same com port in tomtom

if i go into gps status and configure i only have the choice of 4 gps receivers tom tom wired gps
