yeh thats what i was thinking, i think my dads was supplied on an sd card so preumably i would have to copy the files onto a computer and then onto another sd card which i would then pop into my phone

can anyone confirm this

Hi John,

It sounds like you may be able to help me

I have just bought an SPV M5000, but cannot install TomTom v5 on it, it worked no prob on my old XDA2, but the installation simply won't begin when I try with the SPV. Can you tell me how you managed it?

Many thanks in advance,

Richard

Angry Sigh - still having TomTom probs

After all John's help I finally managed to get TomTom v5.0 working on the SPV M5000, however I now find the following problems:
  1. TomTom boots itself up and therefore I often pick up my phone to find that the battery has been killed
  2. When running (and plugged into car power) it regularly and randomly (!!!) shuts itself down. When I restart it recalculates the rest of the route, but boy is it annoying?!??!?

Anyone out there know how to recify the problem?

Hi uridium - no I'm not it's 5.00 - I had to manually install it from a disk and I don't have the 5.21 version, do you know how I can get this?

TomTom - "From the horse's mouth"

Dear Sir

Thanks for your email,

Orange SPV M5000 will not be compatible with TomTom Navigator 5. We can not tell about the future with the new software. Please keep an eye on our homepage www.tomtom.com in May there will be new software.

With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team

Installed OK?

Following all the threads above I have now got the latest version on my SPVM5000 BUT... if I am just following the route on screen with no destination set - all is well. When I set a route the device functions OK for 10-15 mins and then just hangs and I have to reboot to get the system back. Anyone else had this?
