Orange PAYG V3 locked?

Hi, anyone using the orange PAYG V3 can tell me whether the phone is locked or not? I am thinking of getting this phone from Carphonewarehouse for GBP99.99 plus GBP20 Airtime, and also want to use my work sim card (Vodaphone) in the V3 aswell. Cheers,

Think you will find not. My 6230i from E2Save (part of CPW) on Orange was locked. Earlier phones 6210 and Motorola 3888 both on Orange were locked but not bought from CPW. Other phones from Vodafone on contract all SIM free.

Network locks

As a rule all prepay handsets will be locked to the network it was supplied to. Orange, T-mobile, 3, Virgin contract phones will all be locked as well, ( although on occassion they may not be) this is becasue they have network specific software and the people at the networks want you to have the full customer experience, e.g. one touch access to voicemail and portals. The networks therefore demand that the supply chain locks them to the network supplied to. This will apparently become a bigger issue with 3g handsets as all the networks have different software to deal with video calling and do not want to release the software to all and sundry just yet.
