Oppinions needed of Nokia 6280

What dose everyone think of the Nokia 6280. My Dad want's an N70 but they are currently out of stock through 3 so how dose the 6280 compare? dose it use the same memory card as the N70 so if he dosn't like it I could use it instead of my N70 which i will give to my Dad until my Mum's contract is up for renewal and i can give the 6280 to my mum and get muyself an N80?
Confusing i know. All three phones are in my name so i can chooes the phones and change them around as i like. Handy don't you think?

Dose anyone have a release date for the N80 yet? I was told by three it could be about 5 months. Also dose the N80 take the same memory card as the N70?

My Mum's contract with Three runs out next month. Can i wate untill the N80 becomes available possibly in several months or do i have to upgrade it right away?

Any help would be greately appreciated.

I have both a N70 and a 6280, and to be honest both phones are great had the 6280 for a couple of days now, a few points i have noticed..

6280
It has a great camera on it, takes photos in full screen, very easy to use.

The flash seems to mist every thing though.

No real player on it, Play back of video camera is very blocky compared to N70

I like changing themes on the phone but i am struggling to find many availible for the 6280 being symian 40

N70

A very good overall phone with loads of availible software,
Can be little fiddly to use compared to 6280
Camera not in full screen, can take a while to fire up.
Video playback a1..
Huge amount of themes availible
Reception amazing

I will be sending the 6280 back tommorow morning,

think i will wait for the n80 or n91 now.. 6280 seems like a backward step

I have a 6280 (via 3G network deal at phones4u)
Positives:
Screen display - good sharpness/bright/colours...
Sound
Features
Aerial/reception
Menus

Weak points
Battery life is not good if you are using the screen a lot (videos!)

Also - if you get the phone from 3 then they will have provided their OWN OS software. (3.36). This has some issues (changing profiles to silent switches phone off occassionally).
Also: Found that there is no copy/paste in SMS. So if you want to copy part of a message (or details in the message like a forwarded phone number) it can't be done.
Whether that's a nokia or 3G issue i don't know.

My phone was provided with a 64mb card as well and i recommend saving al your images/photos to that.

I'm in a similar quandry. I've found a better deal than the contract I'm currently on, so plan to change soon.

I know I want a Nokia phone, and I know I want either the 6280, N70 or N80. Of those, I'd most like the N80. If the N80 is going to be out in the UK in "May", as is rumoured, I can wait for it.

If not, I need some advice on whether to opt for the 6280 or the N70. I can get either phone free on contract. I'm not fussed by 3G (not at the moment, at least) stuff, or mobile browsing etc. I just need a phone to make calls, send texts and play around with the camera for pictures etc. However, I do want the best phone I can have, regardless of whether I'll use all the extra features straight away.

So, what should it be - 6280, N70, or be patient and wait for the N80, without knowing if it will be available, or whether I'll have to pay through the nose for it?

Edit - If it's any use to anyone, I've just spoken to someone I know who work's for the Carphone Warehouse (so no salesman rubbish, just honesty). He said the N80 is genuinely expected next month, and that the 6280 seems a little flimsy in some cases, with a few being returned for broken sliders etc. His advice was to stick it out for a few weeks and wait for the N80.

Has anyone tried TomTom Mobile on the Nokia 6280?

I know its series 40, so I'm assuming it won't work since symbian60 works on them:

The 6280 is also a very good phone but i don't think personally that it is anywhere near to the N80.

6280...

- Delayed on a couple of neworks due to dodgy software
- Noted a fair number of issues with the slide failing prematurely (not as many as the 6111 tho)

N70...

- N series so vastly popular at the moment
