V3i - V3 with Itunes... But no earphones?

V3i - a V3 with iTunes! ... But no earphones to listen to it

Decided to get a couple of V3i's for work on some expired contracts as I love my V3 and didn't want the bigger V3X, I figured these 12 month renewal periods come round quick enough and having an MP3 player built into a V3 sounds good to me.

Strange thing though, no earphones? It seems a bit odd when the selling point is that it's also a ITunes player not to have any earphones doesn't it? There's not even an earphone socket so I guess you have to order special ones that plug into the USB link?

Think I'll back them and go for the deal I saw where you get a V3 and an free Ipod Nano if they won't stump up some freebie earphones for it. What do you reckon my chances are?

How do others listen to ITunes on their V3i?

Mark.

Perhaps they were just missing?

My V3x came with headphones, very nice ones too (although it doesn't have iTunes lol!)

I'm wondering whether I should have gone for a V3x after all. Can you play regular MP3s on your V3x?

It's not too late as I've got 10 days to accept or send this one back.

Yes you can, it's got a fairly good MP3 player on it that looks and works a little bit like iTunes.
You can minimize it so that it plays in the background, and also have it playing while the flip is shut with the side keys controlling it. It's got all playlists and shuffle and all that stuff on it.
I haven't played about with the MP3 player a huge amount but it's pretty good for a phone one, plus it has the added benifit of not being limited to 100 songs like the normal mobile iTunes

Actually I think the V3i might even have this MP3 player too, under "applications" or "fun" or somewhere like that?

Have just discovered (confirmed by Motorola customer services) that the V3i doesn't have iTunes at all, he said that the v3x does (which I know to be wrong). Bizarrely he confimred that the v3i doesn't come supplied with any headphones yet the v3x does.

This is mad!

It's going back tomorrow if I don't get some complimentary Motorola headphones.

I've also heard elsewhere that the MP3 player interferes with the operation of the phone it'sself, but could really do with some experiences of people who have a v3i.

[edit] This link Here says that "some" have iTunes.

Cheers,

Mark.

Could be worth looking at the different networks, as apparently it's up to the operator if they supply the phone with iTunes or not (according to Motorola).

I don't even see it available or coming soon on Vodafone's website (who I would have thought would be most likely to do the iTunes version)

I got my V3i today through vodaphone - no headphones, I complained and they are (allegedly) sending me some tmrw. However, there are two applications to listen to tunes - neither seem to be able to navigate through the files (skip forward or back) and neither recognise real audio files, only Mp3. Is this just the way it is, or can improvements be made, eg install extra apps, or firmware upgrade?

Thanks for that Lisa, I reckon O2 would rather send me some headphones than have these V3is back, however I'm having trouble making up my mind what I want to do now iTunes has been replaced by an apparantly inadequately featured java player. Would I rather get a v3x anyway?

Apparantly, I'd then be able to re-encode .mpg recorded TV shows etc. from my Nebula TV card to watch whilst waiting around for trhe kids etc. on the improved screen.

The dilema is the V3i looks so much nicer & smaller, it's a choice between form or function. I live & work in fully 3G enabled areas but wonder what I'd actually use of the 3G facilities.

Gut feeling right now is to give the V3x a try.

Mark.

I considered the same as you. The thing to do (and what I did) is to go into a shop and have a play around with one, they aren't that much bigger really IMO

Here are some comparison pics somebody posted on Howard Forums that might help...

Obviously not quite as thin but it's pretty good considering it has 2 cameras (1 x 2mp & 1 x vga) and is 3G.

What network are you thinking of getting it on?

I got one on an O2 upgrade yesterday and absolutely hate it!

After using the V3x, it is impossible to go back - the software is an absolute mess on these!

I actually really like mine, but I have had a crappy old nokia 6610 for 3 years +.

Is there any third party software available for it?
All I want to do is navigate through mp3 tracks.. I listen to a lot of recorded radio shows, and comedy and if I listen in short sections I need to skip through.

Does it not work like this then?:

Press right on the directional pad to skip to the next track
Hold right on the directional pad to fast forward

?

OK, sending back the V3i's today, but apparantly the V3x won't be launched on O2 until 23rd January? I can wait but I thought it was already out. It gives me a few days to consider if there is a viable alternative for me I guess.

I take it you got a V3i and hate it?

So the software is awful on the V3i but good on the V3x? Or Did you mean it's impossible to go back to a V3x as the software is a mess?

Confused by your wording.... could you clarfiy please?

Cheers,

Mark.

Sorry mate for the confusion!

Yep I got a V3i on upgrade. I've been playing with the V3x on 3 for a while and really like it!

Software has been completely redone for the V3x, and its a much nicer phone to use because of it!

The screen on the V3x is also in a different league, as is the camera!
