I can recommend the Motorola V3 its a very good phone light weight and nice screen - Only flaw is texting, unlike nokias T9 Motorola use there own equivilent which in my opinion is not a good.

If you will be mainly calling then go for it its a good phone.

Hope this helps

K700i. Mainly because it has more features than the V3 and because it's not a Motorola.

Depends on what you want.

Arguably the best looking are the V3 or the VS6; I'd tend to go for the VS6, as it has a nicer opening mechanism (just a touch of the side of the hinge and it flips open), and I prefer the simpler styling of the VS6.

The VS6 also has a stunning QVGA screen, and a fantastic 2mp camera (it can takebetter stills than the D600, as it also has a macro mode).

The only thing that lets the VS6 down is the relative lack of memory; everyone I know who has one has said that its a good phone.

The K700 isn't a bad phone at all, but its only major plus point is that its got a radio. Its got a good camera, but its only VGA.

i`m leaning towards the K700i at the moment.

the only thing that i don`t like is the fact that it isn`t a flip phone. however i have seen some photos that have been taken with the K700i and they are more than acceptable.

The K700 pics aren;t bad, you're right on that, but the VS6 actually has a GOOD camera.

I was looking at the above phones on Virgin PAYG, but wanted one with a memory slot, which none of those had.

In the end decided to switch to Vodafone, so if you could switch, I would go for the Motorola E770V

Decent screen
Memory slot
3G phone (so if you reallywant you can watch SKY tv on it)
Bluetooth - with voice dial (a lot don't seem to have ??)

And just £70 from vodafone shops if you buy £30 worth of credt at the same time.

Full specs here: http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_e770-1320.php

Not everyones cup of tea, but maybe worth a look......

Damn straight. Motorola UI is awful and clunky compared to SE.

Vodafone is 30p for first 3 mins, then 5p per min, but yes, Virgin is slightly cheaper, but having been on virgin for several years I now prefer Vodafone. (I find Vodafone live quite useful too)

had V3, and it's much too fragile, any bump and it was susceptible to turning off, also can be fairly easily scratched. Also had the k700i and wish i still did, very good phone and easy to use, don't know anything about the other one you mentioned.

no problem, link to call charges is here (if I remember right the link isn't obvious from their home page)
http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatc...pageID=GM_0330

You also get the choice of 2 different price plans on PAYG. Some items are more than Virgin, but i'm still happy with it. Obviously everyone has their own preferences....

They also have 'stop the clock' which allows you to talk for an hour at weekends and evenings, but only pay for the first 3 mins. This isn't available on the PAYG plan I use though, but is on the other.

Ok I admit it, i'm a noob when it comes to ring tones

If by real you mean mp3, then yes it can. As far as I know any sound the phone can play, can be assigned as a ring tone.

Supported sounds files are: MP3, AAC, AAC+, Enhanced AAC+, RA8, MIDI, WAV (and it plays pollyphonic, whatever format that is)

Anyone know of an idiots guide to ringtones ?

Hi again

i`ve just compared vodaphones and virgins call charges. these are the standard charges NOT including any bundles etc. Vodaphone are more expensive with all their charge (apart from texts).

Is their service and Vodaphone Live much better then Virgin to justify paying more than Virgin?

A 10 minute call

Vodaphone would cost £1.15 Virgin £1.00

10 Texts a day

Vodaphone £0.99 Virgin £1.00

MMS Texts

Vodaphone £0.36 Each Virgin £0.30

Voicemail

Vodaphone £0.30p 1st 3 mins Virgin Free

Calls From Czech Republic

Vodaphone Virgin
Call £1.25 Call £0.95
Receive £0.75 Receive £0.60
Text £.49 Text £0.35

You are right, Vodafone is more expensive. The problem I had was finding a phone with the specs I wanted on Virgin. I almost ordered the K700i, but lack of memory expansion put me off. Also, once I started looking into that phone, it seemed that a lot of people have had problems with it. Even when I went to Carphone Warehouse and wanted to view one they said they wouldn't be getting any more because of the problems with it. But I bet lots of people are also happy with it....mind you, it is also a 2 year old phone.

So basically the only phone I came accross with the right specs and price was the E770, so I switched to Vodafone. Worth the extra ? don't know, maybe depends how much you use it, but as I mainly use it for incomming calls, i'm not that bothered.

Vodafone Live is ok for some things, like I find the football info good (but is subscription based for videos) but a lot of the downloads like wallpapers and ringtones are a complete rip off ! just download them on your pc and copy them over for free

If you can find a phone with the specs you want, then probably best to stick with Virgin......

Thanks for all your help Cyclone.

I`m going to stick with the 700i and Virgin.

I admit that not being able to upgrade the memory is a bit of a pain but it does everything that i need it to. Vodaphone chargeing 30p per min the access voicemail is just a blatent rip off. 3G would be nice but to be honest it is just too expensive at present.

Just hope virgin gets more stock so i can get my free £15 worth of call time

Thanks
Ryan
