How expensive is it? I have the 6630 which is basically the same, thinking about doing it when my contract ends.

Hi ram33 nice seeing you around here too

basically the netwrok will want you to buy out the remainder of your contract so if you have only a few months you will be able to get it cheaper

I have an unlocked 6680, which will work on all the normal 4 networks but was told it will not work on the 3 network, so going by that, maybe you cannot unlock your phone for the other networks.

Hi guys and gals,
I have a Nokia 6630 on Orange which I bought second hand off ebay and at the moment I have an Orange PAYG SIM in it which works OK. I have been told that Orange will not unlock the phone because it is PAYG. However, I also have another phone on an Orange Contract. Could I put the contract SIM in the 6630 to get the phone unlocked or will Orange only unlock the phone if the IMEI is the one issued to the original purchaser?
If anyone can shed any light on this, I would be most grateful.

Hi guys and gals,
Can anyone help with my question above about an Orange network Nokia 6630 which I bought second hand off ebay and in which I have put a PAYG sim card. Would Orange give or sell me the unlock code or does it need to be a contract phone to get the unlock code. I have another Orange phone on contract and wondered whether if I put the sim card from that into the 6630 I could get the code.

^^ No one has cracked the BB5 code yet (except for one mysteries eastern European guy who won't tell how he did it).

So I really doubt you could give me the code mate. Even '3' don't have the codes yet.

Unlocking secondhand phone bought on Ebay.

Hi, been reading thru this thread with interest, I have just recently bought a used Nokia 6680 on Ebay which is simlocked to Vodaphone, therefore correct me if I am wrong, it is NOT possible to unlock this phone by going to Vodaphone since it is initally tied to a contract with them ie by the previously owner?? Am I correct? Thanks in advance for your comments!

I am asking the same question in the above thread. Therefore do i need to ask the guy I bought the phone from to get the code since I presumed he is still on contract with Vodaphone before selling the phone to me. or I can ask Vodaphone for one and they will ask for proof of ownership for that phone? Technically, the phone is still on contract with them? Anyone can help with some answers?

vodafone codes available from some people do not include any Nokia phones

Codes are available from SFR in France though

Hi Digihoho,

I e-mailed Orange to ask about an unlocking code for the 6630 I bought off ebay. (I didn't tell them it was bought off ebay)
They replied that they could supply the code and that they would need the IMEI number, the mobile phone number and the password for my access to my online account. They would charge an administration fee of £20 for this service which could be paid by credit or debit card. If it was a payg phone they would take the £20 from the credit balance. They said the code would take 5 to 7 days to obtain. I might put my monthly contract sim in the phone and get it unlocked.
So it seems that it is possible to get the phone unlocked for £20
Hope this is of some help.

Yes, same with Vodaphone, supply them the IMEI number and 20 GBP credit on my payg sim, code takes 7 days - 20 days to arrive via email! Initially, I thought that since the phone was an upgrade, therefore technically the phone is 'registered' with the (Ebay)guy I bought it from, and therefore only him can request the code from the network only! Anyway, I am happy to spend 20 quid to unlock the phone
