6515 - how would a 3g sim work?

I've had my 6515 for a few months now. It's perfect for what I want.

The phone is sim free but doesn't support 3G - does anyone know what would happen if I put a 3g sim in it?

Would I still get the good deals on the text and phone calls offered by 3G? (via it dropping onto 2.5G type networks)

Any suggestions.

Cheers.

What I mean is - I know it won't take the 3g services. But will it drop down onto the lower service provision instead, in other words could I get the phone and text provision by the normal networks using a 3g sim.

It was my understanding it was a lot cheaper to use their minutes and texts.

i'm after a cheap contract for texts and anytime calls but without the phone.

Failing that - where to look for good offers on contracts/sims where I don't need the phone?
