02 Problems

I'm seriously beginning to regret signing my contract with 02 for another 12 months

Problem:-

If I'm on the phone to someone and I hang up then send them a txt, or if I send a txt and I know the person I send it to phone is switched on, the txt sometimes doesn't get delivered straight away, some times as much as 4 hours later before I get a delivery report back, I know this because when I send a txt and I don't get a reply or delivery report I end up calling the person anyway, as time goes on and I send a few more txts to different people I end up with a pile of delivery reports and replys sent hours previously in my in box, at first I thought it was a dodgy handset NOKIA 9500, had three of them and they all had a differnt problem to this one and I thought this was part of it, I now have a NOKIA N70 & N90 and I am still having this problem and this has gone on for over a year! This doesn't happen all the time, some times txt's send and arrive as normal but more often and not it doesn't work right

I've had my SIM changed and that didn't change anything

Anyone having this problem with 02?

Been on O2 for years now and never had this problem, you sure it's not a handset problem? I know O2 have had issues with some models of handests in the past doing this (K700i to name one)

As far as I was aware, delivery reports do not work over the 02 network. I've been a customer of theirs since BT Cellnet days and this has always been the case.

I've recently got a new contract on 02 but ive had same trouble ive attempted send texts and get message failed this was about 10 times until i got message sent.
I then hear late on the same day of various friends that the texts id sent hours ago had started to start appearing after hours of them being actually sent now if my phone tells me a message has failed to send i just try to send again not expecting it take 5 hours to send if its previously told me failed.
Ive had friends on 02 who've had the same problems too with texts failing to send and the actual sim free handset im using i used previously on orange and had no problems at all with orange ive updated software and reset the phone aswell.
I have no problems with calls just texts

1 its been over a range of handsets 9500, 6230, N90 + N70

2 phew am glad i aint the only one havin these problems, only my msg leaves the fone, very rare i get a "rejected" or "failed" delivery report i just get the "delivered" several hours later

3 to obtain a delivery report on the 02 network you need to type *0# (0 = number, not letter) at the start of ur txt and leave a space between it and ur msg

Maybe that's your problem. Try sending one without requesting a report and see what happens.

Gotta say I've been with O2 for years now with loads of different handsets and this has never happened. On Orange...yeah, but not O2.

I do wonder why ppl are so obsessed with Delivery Reports tho? If they read them and don't reply straight back whats the problem?

Wierd. Do you know any other ppl who use O2 and are they having the same probs? If thay aren't you may have to just ride it out. Try leaving delivery reports out totally so you don't get inundated with them.
