Vodafone Do Me Head In

I got a new Motorola SLVR off ebay and it was locked to Vodafone. I thought I could get it unlocked quite easily so I could use it on Orange, but I was wrong.

Took it to two places down town and they said they couldnt unlock it as it was too new. The guys suggested to ring Vodafone to get the unlock codes.

I rang them and asked them to unlock my phone, they said they could and then when the woman heard of the phone that I have got, she said 'are you sure this is a Vodafone handset?' I told her it came in a Vodafone box. She then told me that she did not have the unlock codes for this phone and they would have to ask Motorola for them and she said it would take no longer then a week.

I week and a half has gone past now, rang them yesturday to see whats going on but they said they are waiting for Motorola to get back to them. However they charged me £20 a day after the first phonecall to do it but have no codes to show for it.

Anybody else had problems like this?

my problem is i want to get it de-branded, as i can't be doing with all that vodafone live rubbish.

Um, sorry if I'm pointing ou tth eobvious here, but the last week or 2 havent exactly been normal ones with people being away from work more days than at work.
I say allow for the fact that the last 2 weeks or so may as well have been written off. Granted Voda should have said one working week or whatever, but the delay is at Moto from what they said to you.
Dotn get the £20 per day thing tho - sounds like rubbish. £20 as a one off payment is the unlock fee I was always told

got it sorted now, someone down in london did it for me and the ironic thing is that he got it done by Vodafone!!

my local vodafone shop would not do it and ringing them up was no use at all

Unlocking L7

Where in London did you get it unlocked? How much was it?

Did they get rid of the Vodafone Live button on the bottom right?

Cheers,
Shye

I got it done by someone who was doing it on ebay, he did it as a sort of favour. I paid him to do it and when he was coming back from work he popped into the vodafone shop and got it done for me and then sent me the unlock code.

I havent been able to get rid of the live button as you have to do a software reset to do that and I am unsure how to do that.

Try this http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/motorola.htm they charge £19.99, it should unlock the phone as well. The de branding details for the SLVR are around the middle of the page.
