My daughter's looking for a camera phone which will stand up to some hard use. She works on a farm and is somewhat clumsy [by her own admission].

Most camera phones we've seen don't protect the lens when closed - all clam style ones have the lens on show and, as far as we can see, all sliders do to - the Samasung E800 seems to be the only exception and we'll go with this unless you can advise otherwise.

[The phone must have IR to download images to PC and video capture would be a nice bonus - no other features are of importance]

D750i has lense cover
D500 is covered when shut (similar to E800)
Most of the LG phones have a rotating camera lense so can be covered
Sagem phones are good for their lense caps too

Does not have a lens cover but consider the 'rubber' Nokia 5140i. My 5140 takes the odd knock quite well.

Nokia phones with changeable fascias might be the way to go - as the actual lense is protected. If the covereing gets scratched or cracked, you can change the fascia for about £5 to £10

Just to let anyone who's interested know that she went for the Samsung E800 in the end.

The 750s weren't girly enough and the D500 to dear. The rubber Nokia she thought would work well for soldiers in the Gulf.

She's very pleased with the E800, although it took us a while to figure out how to transfer info to/from a PC via IRDA - We needed to download 2 prgrammes from the Samsung website. Shame this wasn't explained in the manual.
