Can't send MMS. Why?

I have a Philips 355 (bit of a naff phone I know) on virgin. I've been trying to send mms messages since I bought it. I spoke to virgin and they have sent some software to my phone and reset my settings my at my end and theirs a few times but I still can't send mms. The last time I phoned virgin the girl I spoke to sounded like she couldn't be arsed and fobbed me off with "we are having problems with our mms system at the moment" I know that wasn't true as my brother is with virgin and he sent an mms with no problems.

Noy sure it this will help but I know that on new Vodafone contracts, MMS is turned off by default. You have to call them to get it turned on when you first take out the contract. It also seems to get deactivaed again if you change your contract in any way shape or form.

I guess its their way of protecting their bandwidth or something.

When I phoned Virgin they told me mms had not been activated and I had to send an mms to activate it. But nothing happens when I send one. I just get a message saying mms not sent.

Well, it took O2 an entire month to get MMS working after I started the contract with them. Took longer to be able to receive than to send. It took 4 days after starting the contract to even get ordinary calls and texts running properly. That's just how long it took to get my entry onto O2 to ripple through their system. I feared I'd joined a duff network and was close to cancelling......

That said it was nearly 2 years ago and I've had no problems since, so I guess they got their act together.

I wonder if Virgin (T-mobile) is having the same issues as O2 did? You'd think things would be pretty instant wouldn't you, or perhaps 24 hours at most? Technology eh???

i am with vodafone and i recently bought a new camera phone that sends mms. i rang them up and transfered my old number to the new phone. i was also unable to send mms it just said message not sent, if i put the old sim card in with the new number i was able to send mms. i rang up vodafone and the reason was that my old number was not set up for gprs which needed to be activated at their end, he said it would be 72 hours before it was activated! after 5 minutes i decided to turn the phone off and back on and gprs was activated at the top of the screen and i was then able to send mms so that may be you problem.
